GoDaddy Updates Offer/Counter Offer Pages for Auctions

23

Earlier this week, GoDaddy made a pretty big change to its Offer/Counter Offer (OCO) pages for domain names listed for sale via GoDaddy Auctions. The new landing pages have more details about the domain name listings and share information about its appraised value and comparable sales. Of note, listings with Buy It Now prices were not updated with the new landing page design.

The objective of the redesigned landing page is to give prospective buyers more information to make a data-driven purchase decision. I was also told the company overhauled the backend for these OCO listings (new APIs and moving to cloud) for better performance.

The New York Stock Exchange has a video series called “Walk This Way,” featuring an executive interview through the company’s headquarters. This week, Betty Liu of the NYSE interviewed GoDaddy CEO Scott Wagner as he walked through GoDaddy’s headquarters showing off some of the features in the large office complex.

In this brief walking interview, Scott answered questions about the traits of people GoDaddy typically hires, who he would hire if he could hire anyone in history, the best and worst advice he received, and a bit about his morning routine.

Here’s the LinkedIn post with accompanying video:

GoDaddy Advertising New Extensions via AdWords

I was browsing the New York Post on my iPhone this morning when a GoDaddy banner advertisement caught my attention. The banner was highlighting three new gTLD domain names: You.Training, You.Fitness, and You.Coach:

I Bought a 4 Word .com Domain Name

It’s not a secret that I like one word .com domain names. I am almost always on the hunt for a good one word .com domain name, although they are often difficult to buy.

Although I am still in a bearish mood right now, I am still buying domain names. I regularly participate in domain name auctions and I send inquiries and offers daily. The majority of the acquisitions I am making right now are two and three word .com domain names (I only invest in .com domain names), and they are mostly in the 3 figure range.

GoDaddy Landing Page Change Promotes Domain Buy Service

1

GoDaddy is the largest domain name registrar in the world with many millions of domain names registered there. Many of the domain names registered by customers are not being used and have a default landing page shown to visitors. This landing page has changed over the years, and I recently noticed a change with the design. As you can see below, GoDaddy is more prominently promoting its Domain Buy Service to help prospective buyers acquire domain names that use the default lander.

Video: 2019 NamesCon Keynote with Paul Nicks

GoDaddy VP and Aftermarket GM Paul Nicks was one of the keynote speakers at the 2019 NamesCon conference. Because of the amount of data and insight that was shared in his NamesCon 2018 keynote presentation, Paul’s keynote was the one I was looking forward to seeing the most. A few weeks ago, I shared Paul’s presentation slides that accompanied this year’s presentation, and the video of his keynote was uploaded to GoDaddy’s YouTube account late last week.

For your convenience, I embedded the video of Paul’s keynote below. If you have any questions for Paul – or if you have any comments about the presentation, you are welcome to post them here for Paul to see:
