Danica Patrick Coming to See Afternic

9

It’s not going to take long for the team at Afternic to be welcomed by Go Daddy. According to a tweet from Go Daddy Girl Danica Patrick, the NASCAR driver is on her way to Massachusetts to see the team at Afternic, which was acquired by Go Daddy.

I just happen to be in the neighborhood, so maybe I’ll stop by and say hello.

Kidding about that, but I am sure there will be a photo opportunity, and I’ll see if I can share some photos of the occasion. I don’t think it’s all that often that a NASCAR driver visits Massachusetts.

My Thoughts on Go Daddy’s Acquisition of Afternic

I haven’t had much time to digest the news about Go Daddy’s acquisition of Afternic, but I want to share some of my thoughts and lingering questions in the wake of this news. I think this is going to impact domain investors in many ways.

You are welcome to share your thoughts or questions about this news in the comment section.

Great Night in Boston

IMG_2512

We had a domain investor meet up in Boston last night, and the turnout was excellent. There were in the ballpark (pun intended) of 40 people in attendance, including attendees from several states and attendees from Canada and Germany!

I want to give a special thank you to Afternic and NameJet for sponsoring the event, allowing proceeds to be donated to the One Fund Boston. Karen Dixon planned the pre-party at Game On, which was paid for by Afternic, and Matt Overman was helpful in taking care of the Red Sox tickets, which were bought by NameJet.

All in all, it was a fun evening, and I was able to connect with many people I haven’t met before. Thanks to everyone who turned out for a fun event in Boston.

I will keep you posted on when we’ll do another event in or around Boston.

Last Call for the Boston Meetup

As much as I would like to welcome walk-ins for the Boston domain investor meetup on Tuesday, June 25, it’s not going to be permitted because of the location. Today is the last day you will be able to reserve your ticket to the meet up. There are about 5 tickets remaining out of 50 total tickets.

NameJet and Afternic are sponsoring the meetup, with proceeds benefiting The One Fund, helping Boston Marathon bombing victims. Afternic is sponsoring a happy hour at Game On at 5pm. NameJet is sponsoring tickets to the Red Sox game at 7pm (against the Colorado Rockies). We’ll be in a great standing room section in the Pavilion area, making it easy to have conversations while watching the game.

People who wish to attend the meetup must donate $30 to The One Fund. Email me a copy of your receipt to confirm payment and your place on the list.

If you can’t send your donation today but you do want to attend, please let me know ASAP. It’s going to be a fun night in Boston, and I am looking forward to meeting you there.

8 Spots Remaining for Boston Meet Up

Afternic and NameJet are hosting a domain investor meet up in Boston on June 25 to Benefit the One Fund Boston organization. The cost of entry to the pre-party and Red Sox game is a $30 donation to One Fund Boston, and as of right now, there are only 8 spots remaining out of the 50 tickets.

As I mentioned in the initial article, Afternic is sponsoring the pre-party, which will be held at a Game On, a sports bar / restaurant on Landsdowne Street in Boston, right next to Fenway Park. The party is called for 5:00pm.

The Red Sox game begins at 7:10pm, and they are playing the Colorado Rockies. We will be in a covered SRO section, which is more amenable to conversing than seats.  NameJet is paying for the Red Sox tickets.

If you are in the Boston area, or if you want to make a trip to Boston, you are welcome to come. Please get in touch soon though, as there are only 8 spots remaining. If you haven’t confirmed yet, post something here or contact me.

Afternic and NameJet Partnering on Buy Now Domain Names

NameJet and Afternic

I was looking through a list of domain names to potentially back order on NameJet a couple of nights ago when I came across something I found interesting that I hadn’t seen before. Listed above the NameJet search results were two other domain names with the same keyword in a different extension, and there was a Buy Now button next to each. You can see it in the screenshot above.

I did a bit of digging, and I was able to see that the Buy Now domain names are Afternic listings. I reached out to NameJet General Manager Matt Overman, and he sent me a
