GoDaddy and Afternic Take Step to Work More Seamlessly

If you regularly log in to your Afternic account, you probably noticed a change to the login screen earlier this week. There is now a “Login with GoDaddy” button below the password field to allow Afternic customers to log in to their Afternic accounts using their GoDaddy credentials:

I noticed this change a few days ago, and a couple of people mentioned it to me separately. I reached out to Alan Shiflett, Director of Sales for the Aftermarket at GoDaddy, to ask if there are any advantages of logging in with my GoDaddy credentials and if there is more to the change than meets the eye. “While a simple addition, for now, this is the first step in allowing GoDaddy and Afternic to work more seamlessly together going forward and will allow additional benefits in the future,” Alan responded.

Because I register the majority of my domain names at GoDaddy, I already list my domain names for sale on Afternic directly from within my GoDaddy control panel. When I list domain names for sale that are registered outside of GoDaddy, I login to my account via Afternic.

Previously, I wrote about the need for Afternic to offer 2 factor authentication to enhance security. I would imagine that is coming at some point in the near future.
