smartname-logoAs a Rook Media parking customer, I received an email from SmartName this morning letting me know how to access my SmartName account that was created on my behalf. I believe the account was created based on the domain names I have in my Rook Media parking account.

I thought I would share the email for those people who may have overlooked the email or perhaps not received it because they signed up with an email address that isn't checked regularly.

Here's the email I received this morning:

GoDaddy Did Not Acquire Rook Media

Rook MediaRook Media emailed its customers this morning to announce a partnership with GoDaddy. The email, which I posted below, did not mention that the company was acquired by GoDaddy, but I could see how it may have been interpreted as an acquisition. After exchanging emails with GoDaddy's Paul Nicks and Rook Media's Ash Rahimi, I can confirm that this was not an acquisition.

The two emails that Rook Media sent to customers offer more information about the partnership and explain what is happening with the company going forward. The two emails Rook Media customers received this morning are published below:

DomainSponsor and Rook Media Payment Schedule Changes

I want to share an email that was just sent to me by my Domain Sponsor account manager, Stephanie Starkman. The company is making some changes to its payment schedule and wire transfer threshold, and the changes may impact some of the company's clients.

If you have any questions about the announcement, reach out to your Domain Sponsor / Rook Media account manager for more information: (more…) → Read More

(Photos) Nearly 30 Attend Domain Sponsor Meetup in Brooklyn

Regretfully, I could not attend the Domain Sponsor / Rook Media domain investor meetup held in Brooklyn earlier this week. I heard the meetup had nearly 30 attendees from the greater New York City area and beyond.

The meetup started at a bar called Wolf and Deer, and Rook Media / Domain Sponsor rented a suite at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn where attendees watched the Brooklyn Nets take on the Phoenix Suns. Kevin Diaz, the Director of Sales and Marketing at the company, shared some photos with me, which I have posted below. I see some friendly faces from various conferences and my time in New York City.

I think meetups like these are a great way to get to know other local domain investors. I think it can also be a great way for companies to show their support of domain investors and introduce products and services as well as customer support staff.

Rook Media / Domain Sponsor Hosting NYC Meetup at Nets Game

DomainSponsor/RookMedia is hosting a meetup in New York City on  Tuesday, December 1st at 7:30. The company has a suite at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the  Brooklyn Nets Vs. Phoenix Suns basketball game. There will be a meetup in midtown Manhattan prior to the game, and details about that aspect of the evening will be forthcoming to attendees.

The company sponsored another meetup this Summer  at a Cubs game in Chicago, and I had a great time.

In anticipation of this New York City  event, Joe Higgins told me, "There is no sales agenda - just an evening of hanging out - similar to the Cubs game. People get themselves to NYC or the game - we take care of the food, drink and fun..."

I was told there are (more…) → Read More

DomainSponsor / RookMedia Sponsoring Meetup in Chicago

I want to share the details about a casual domain investor meetup happening in Chicago next month that you'll want to consider attending. DomainSponsor/RookMedia is sponsoring a get together on Wednesday, July 8th at Wrigley Field for a night of division rivalry between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals. The company is covering the cost of evening's activities, including tickets, food, drink, etc., and things will kick off with a meetup at the W Hotel (Lakeshore) prior to the game. People who RSVP will get details emailed to them.

Domain Sponsor / Rook Media organized meetups at two hockey games in Los Angeles and New Jersey last winter. These events were well received and attended, and the company is excited to sponsor a local meetup for clients and domain investors in the Chicago area. If you would like to attend, contact your DS/Rook account manager, or contact Joe directly by emailing joe "at" rookmedia .net. Because this is a ticketed event, you will need to RSVP in advance.

This is going to be a (more…) → Read More
