Domain Boardroom Celebrates 10th Birthday

Domain Boardroom, a private domain industry discussion forum founded by Donna Mahony, is celebrating its 10th birthday today:

I have been a member of DBR since Donna created it, and it is hard to believe it has been ten years already. To put it in perspective for me a bit, I wasn't even married when I joined!

Donna told me there are approximately 200 members of Domain Boardroom. She also said there is usually a list of at least 50 applications from people who are interested in becoming members of DBR.

Here's what Donna had to say about DBR on its 10th birthday: (more…) → Read More

Close Your Forum Sales Threads

I don't list many domain names for sale on domain forums, but I think they can be good venues to sell domain names that are priced well. I've bought and sold on DNForum, NamePros, and Domain Boardroom, so I know first hand that all of the forums have active buyers and sellers. Sellers may outnumber buyers, but there are many buyers looking for deals on forums.

Sometimes, I'll list a domain name for sale and reduce the price once if the domain name isn't sold. On occasion, if I don't want to reduce the price, I'll simply edit the post and remove the information from the sale thread so nobody contacts me about it after. Oftentimes, I'll forget about the sale listing, and it will stay up indefinitely, and therein lies a problem.

If someone does a bit of (more…) → Read More

Domain Boardroom to Offer Seminars to Its Members

In a post yesterday afternoon on the Domain Boardroom Tumblr account, DBR founder Donna Mahony publicly shared that there are going to be a series of educational seminars for members of the private forum. The online seminars will be conducted by people who are considered experts in those fields. I understand the seminars will cover topics such as SEO, social media, eCommerce, drop shipping, lead generation, Wordpress management, and more.

Domain Boardroom & Charity Auction Update!

oktvI want to give a big thank you to those of you who placed bids on the auction to benefit the American Red Cross and another thank you to those who offered up domain names and services. I also want to thank the people who wrote blog posts about the auction as well as those who have helped spread the word about it. I am excited that this is going to be able to help the American Red Cross, because the people impacted by these storms really need all the help they can get.

Yesterday evening, Rick Schwartz posted an article that was especially appreciated because I know Rick has been hesitant to link to charity related causes due to the "Air Katrina" fiasco several years ago. In light of Rick mentioning that dark time, I want to let you know how the funds from the auction will be collected and then disbursed. is not just sponsoring the auction in name, but the company has offered its services to complete these transactions at no cost. Once the auctions close on (more…) → Read More

Domain Boardroom and Sponsoring Auction to Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims

oktvI am sure you've heard about the devastation caused by tornados and extreme weather in Oklahoma this week. Many lives have been lost, hundreds of people have been injured, and countless homes and businesses have been destroyed. I can't even imagine the pain these people are going through.

In an effort to raise funds for the victims, Domain Boardroom and its members are sponsoring an auction on my blog, and ALL proceeds will go to the American Red Cross' Oklahoma City chapter, which is helping victims. Domain Boardroom members have donated domain names, gift certificates, and services towards this effort. (Big thanks to Donna Mahony for organizing this). will be handling all of the escrow for these transactions at NO cost to either party. Once the funds are collected, will disburse funds directly to the American Red Cross, which is helping victims.

Here's how the auction will work. (more…) → Read More

Bill Hartzer to be Keynote Speaker at DBRFF

It was just announced that search engine optimization expert Bill Hartzer will be the keynote speaker at this year's Domain Boardroom Fun Fest, a fee free conference for members of the private Domain Boardroom domain forum. Bill will be discussing current SEO issues and topics, going over basic SEO strategy, and doing a Q and A.

Bill has given me quite a bit of SEO help on my websites over the last few years. He has always provided me with actionable information to let me know what I can do to increase visitor stickiness while making my websites more visible in Google. I have found Bill's services to be affordable.

I believe the most beneficial aspect of Bill's talk at DBRFF is that he will do some website reviews for DBR members. In addition to speaking about SEO, he will give examples and tips using member websites. Some might cringe at the idea of having their website disected, but it will be helpful to those who volunteer to have their site reviewed and discussed.

Donna Mahony is expecting between 50 - 100 people in → Read More
