Last week, I reported that RX.com was sold via Sedo for $1 million, in a deal brokered by Dave Evanson. It stands as the third largest public domain name sale of the year (to date). In this morning’s Registrant Alert email from DomainTools, it was revealed that Texas entrepreneur and domain investor Brent Oxley was the buyer of RX.com after it moved out of Sedo’s domain name transfer account.
Sedo hosted a .UK domain name auction that concluded earlier today. 240 .UK domain names were sold via auction. The total sales value of the auctions was 76,149 GBP, which is approximately $95,254 USD.
There were quite a few excellent keyword .UK domain names in auction, and the order of the results was a bit surprising to me. Put another way, if I had to guess the order of the sales ranking them from largest to smallest before the conclusion of the auction, I would have been way off.
As you may be aware, .UK domain names are becoming available to purchase. These domain names were first offered by the registry, Nominet, to domain name registrants that held matching .co.uk or .org.uk domain names. The domain names that were not taken by those registrants are becoming available for third parties to register.
I previously wrote about SnapNames and its .UK auction, and I received an email from Sedo announcing it will be running a .UK domain name auction beginning tomorrow. Here’s what I was told about Sedo’s upcoming auction:
According to a tweet from Sedo broker Frank Tillmanns, the Viajes.ES ccTLD domain name was sold via Sedo for €147,000. At today’s exchange rate, that is approximately $164,717 USD. As Frank mentioned in his tweet, viajes means “travel” in English.

Yesterday afternoon, Sedo reported the €700,000 sale of Links.com. At today’s exchange rate, the sale is just shy of $800,000 USD (approximately $796,610), making it one of the largest public domain name sales of the year to date. It also appears to be the largest sale of the year for Sedo, not including any unreported private sales.
The tweet promoting the sale stated that this was the “most expensive fixed price domain sale yet!” I presume this means the buyer used the buy it now option from Sedo’s marketplace and it was the largest sale in this manner to have transacted via Sedo rather than a brokered domain name sale:
