Web.com Job: Strategic Aftermarket Sales Executive

Web.com posted a job opportunity I want to share with readers. The Jacksonville, Florida-based company is looking to hire a Strategic Aftermarket Sales Executive. Based on the job description, it looks like the hire will work on the company’s SnapNames and NameJet lines of business. The job was posted one week ago on LinkedIn, and it looks like there are fewer than 25 applicants so far.

Here’s the job summary extracted from the LinkedIn job listing:

NameJet to be Down for Maintenance 7/29 for 4-6 Hours

0

NameJet sent out an email to customers this afternoon to alert them about upcoming maintenance that will cause downtime on Monday, July 29th. During the maintenance period, customers will not be able to place bids or backorders on NameJet auctions. Customers were advised to place backorders in advance. Since auctions do not end during the scheduled maintenance time period, it doesn’t seem like they will be impacted.

Here’s a copy of the email I received:

Snapnames to Run .UK Domain Name Auctions

I received emails from NameJet and SnapNames informing me about upcoming .UK domain name auctions that will be held via SnapNames. In case you aren’t aware, .UK domain names are newly available, and registrants that owned .co.uk domain names were given the opportunity to purchase their matching .UK domain names.

The period to reserve matching .UK domain names ended on June 25, and domain names that were not claimed are going to become available for others to register. Details about this are available on Nominet’s website.

End Users Do Participate in Expiry Auctions

I want to share a nice example of an end user buyer participating in an expiry auction on NameJet. It is not a super rare occurrence as evidenced by the Gradient.com auction on GoDaddy, but I don’t think it happens all that regularly.

LifeIsAGift.com expired and went to auction at NameJet a little over a week ago, and the domain name sold for $1,018. The domain name appears to have been previously owned by someone who did professional coaching and consulting. There were 63 bids from 53 bidders in the LifeIsAGift.com auction. I was a participant in the auction, but I did not think it would be a good investment for my company at a higher level than my bid.

NamesCon Europe Auction Goes Live

It looks like the auction list for NamesCon Europe has been published on NameJet. Bidding on domain names in the upcoming conference auction has begun. Assuming the auction is run in the same way as the NamesCon Global auction in January, there will be a smaller group of domain names included in a live auction held on Thursday, June 20th.

I took a quick look through the auction page, and here are some of the notable domain names included in the auction:

OneManga.com is in Pending Delete Status

It’s not every day that the domain name for a once super popular website comes up for auction. I was looking through a list of domain names that are coming up for auction, and I saw that OneManga.com is in pending delete status. This means the domain name will likely go to auction at the drop catching service that is able to catch it.
