Join our Family at THE Domain Conference

Join our family  at THE Domain Conference – Sept 10th-14th, 2016 – for an opportunity to learn about the value of owning Domain Names and how to increase your income from them.

There will be plenty of networking opportunities to meet both our many Sponsors (all listed on line) face to face, and other Domain Investors in order to exchange valuable information with attendees.   There is nothing like a hand shake to start a relationship.

This year there will be a special one-day kick-off to THE Domain Conference.   On the first day of our Cabana Networking weekend ~ STARTUP Saturday ~  from 10:00 – 5:00.   It will be an educational  opportunity for anyone who dreams of creating a Start up  business OR help your existing business grow by  meeting  with new investors, fellow entrepreneurs and business leaders,  if you want to learn about how to turn your Startup idea into a real business from those who have done it!

The Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Hotel is offering our attendees rooms starting at $109 with NO RESORT FEE and FREE INTERNET.   The hotel is also offering a  20% discount off their 4 restaurants on food and at their Spa 66.   The venue is located just 3 miles  from Ft. Lauderdale International Airport.   All rooms have balconies with water views or patios over looking the pool and gardens.   The Tower Rooms starting at $129 all have balconies and amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean and downtown skyline.

2016 Domain Industry Awards Ballot

THE Domain ConferenceThe nomination period for the 2016 Domain Industry Awards was opened a week and a half ago, and anyone was permitted to submit the names of people and companies they felt were deserving of an award. This morning, Howard Neu sent out the final ballot, and voting is now opened.

Published below is the voting ballot as well as the note from Howard Neu, organizer of THE Domain Conference. The Awards will be given out on September 13th at THE Domain Conference in Ft. Lauderdale.

I want to say “thanks” to those who thought to nominate me for a few of the categories. I decline the “Developer of the Year” nomination though. I neither consider myself a web developer nor did I do any notable development recently. I see more deserving people in the other categories in which I was nominated, but the Developer of the Year nomination must be a mistake (or a joke) and I decline the nomination.

Here’s the ballot and voting rules:

Nominations Open for Annual Domain Industry Awards

THE Domain ConferenceHoward Neu sent out an email this morning announcing that the nomination period is now open for the annual domain industry awards, formerly known as the TRAFFIC Awards. The awards will be announced and given out at THE Domain Conference on September 13.

Domain industry award nominations are being solicited for the following awards:

Many Western Domain Industry Professionals in China

When I read about a domain name conference in China, it is usually after the fact. I see photos and videos published online, but it almost seems like a totally different industry. This week it is different.

I was invited to the World Domain Conference taking place in China this week, but for a few reasons I couldn’t make the trip. I wanted to attend the conference, but it didn’t work out for me this time.

I have been following several Twitter accounts that have published photos of the event, and I am seeing lots of familiar faces in attendance. It looks like the World Domain Conference is bridging the gap between Eastern and Western companies involved in the domain business.

The DomainX conference in India had success bringing together people in the domain investment space from all over the world. It sure looks like the World Domain Conference is also bringing people from  throughout the world to discuss domain names.

There are two US-based industry conferences coming up – THE Domain Conference in south Florida in September and NamesCon in Las Vegas in January. I am hopeful that we will continue to see companies and people from outside of the US in attendance in greater numbers than before.

Here are a few photos and videos of the ongoing World Domain Conference shared by people on Twitter:

DomainSponsor Hosting Miami Domain Meetup

If you live in the Miami, Florida area, this domain investment meetup might be of interest to you. DomainSponsor will be hosting a small meetup on June 23rd (this coming Thursday) at Marlins Park in Miami. The company has reserved a suite for the Marlins vs. Cubs game at 7:10pm.

DomainSponsor representatives will be playing host to a small group of people who are active in the domain investment space. The meetup is free to attend, and food and drinks are included. I attended one of the company’s meetups in Chicago last Summer, and they were great hosts. I am trying to make it to this meetup and should know in a few hours if I can find a babysitter.

Because of the limited amount of space available, you must RSVP to Kevin Diaz to attend. Please keep in mind that Kevin will need to confirm with you prior to attending because there aren’t many tickets in the suite remaining.

Undeveloped Gives Auction Update

Undeveloped is running a domain name auction in conjunction with the Domaining Europe conference. The auction will feature 150 domain names, and it will be run on Undeveloped’s auction platform. The auction is set to kick off on May 24th and will run until June 14th.

According to Reza Sardeha, founder of Undeveloped, some of the high value domain names included in this auction include Estate.com, Bra.com, 43.com, 866.com Textile.com, and Hotel.nl. Reza also let me know about a unique aspect of the auction regarding payments:

“Next to that we’re introducing interest free financing to buyers in this auction to get as many as names as possible sold to end-users. Affordability is a big barrier in auctions. We hope this lowers the barrier and opens up the market for a broader audience.”

If interested, you should contact Undeveloped to get the full details about the offer.

Bidders who are interested in participating will need to complete a three step verification process with Undeveloped before their account is activated. Once the account is activated, bidders are allowed to place bids in the auction.

This morning, the company shared an update with me that I posted below:
