Bob Casey For President? Democratic Senator’s Domain Name Registered to GOP

Bob Casey is a United States Senator from Pennsylvania, and he is a member of the Democratic Party. There has been some speculation that Senator Casey could potentially become a candidate for US President in the 2020 election. Here’s an excerpt from an article on Philly.com discussing the possibility: “In case you missed it — which you easily could have, with the Thanksgiving holiday and attendant travel, eating, drinking and such — Bob Casey says he might run for president.”

With speculation growing about Senator Casey’s potential Presidential run, it looks like the BobCaseyForPresident.com domain name was just registered on November 27. Interestingly, it doesn’t appear to have been registered by Mr. Casey, a supporter of his candidacy, or even a domain name speculator.

According to Whois records at GoDaddy, it appears that someone associated with the Pennsylvania Republican Party registered BobCaseyForPresident.com. The registrant email address for the domain name

Super.com Announces New $50 Million Investment Fund

Shortly after the $1.2 million sale of Super.com at the NamesCon auction, I asked readers if they thought this would be the largest publicly reported domain name sale of 2018. We are coming up to the end of the year, and Super.com is the second largest sale of the year, behind the $3.5 million sale of Ice.com.

If you were not aware, Super.com has been turned into a “publishing, funding and game platform for developers and gamers.” This past week, Super.com announced a $50 million investment fund. The news was shared on Twitter by domain broker Kate Buckley:

On the Super.com website, the company shares more information about its $50 million Super! Fund initiative:

View Glass Gets More Funding and Gets View.com

Early this morning, Bloomberg reported that View, Inc., a maker of smart glass had received $1.1 billion in funding from the SoftBank Vision Fund. Prior to this announcement, Bloomberg reports, the company had received “about $800 million” in funding from other investors.

The news about this recent round of funding was tweeted out by Techmeme this evening:

I visited View.com to see if that is the domain name the company is using, and I saw a 404 error:

User Engage Acquires User.com and Rebrands as User

Earlier this morning, I reported the $150,000 sale of User.com, a domain name that was brokered by Dave Evanson at Sedo. It is now clear who acquired User.com and why.

User Engage, “a full-stack marketing automation platform that helps businesses from around the world grow faster,” bought User.com and rebranded itself as User. The company tweeted the news about rebranding a few hours ago:

I looked at CrunchBase this afternoon to learn a bit more about User, and I saw

Pitch.com Acquired “to take on Powerpoint”

In a tweet in late September, Andrew Rosener mentioned that the Pitch.com domain name had apparently been sold over the Summer:

Sedo broker Dave Evanson responded to Andrew’s tweet to confirm that the domain name was sold for an undisclosed price:

I reached out to Dave this morning, and he

WW.com: Weight Watchers Rebrands as WW

In July of this year, I reported that the WW.com domain name appears to have sold. WW.com previously sold in 2014 for an undisclosed price. Although the Whois record was private and the domain name did not resolve in July, I speculated that Weight Watchers may have acquired the domain name. In addition to the fact that Weight Watchers’ initials are “WW,” the domain name transferred to corporate brand protection registrar SafeNames, where Weight Watchers registers its domain names.

Last week, I updated the article I wrote because WW.com started forwarding to WeightWatchers.com. Although the Whois record remains private, it could be assumed that Weight Watchers acquired the domain name because it wouldn’t make sense for anyone else to forward the domain name.

This morning, it was reported that Weight Watchers is rebranding as WW. According to an article published this morning on CNN Money, “Weight Watchers really wants to let you know that it’s not just a diet company — so much so that it’s changing its name to WW.” Smartly, the company bought the matching WW.com in advance of the rebranding.

Since noticing the changes to WW.com, I periodically
