Sold for $50k in 2014, Ingles.com Re-Sold for $400,000

In September of 2014, Ingles.com was sold in auction at NameJet for $49,899. The auction caught my attention because I had just returned from a trip to the mountains in North Carolina, and there is a popular supermarket chain called Ingles. Unfortunately, I was an underbidder in the auction because GoDaddy just reported that Ingles.com was re-sold for $400,000 in June of this year.

If you visit Ingles.com, you can see the domain name forwards to the SpanishDict.com, which is a Spanish to English translation tool. The word Inglés in Spanish translates to “English,” so this is a pretty solid domain name acquisition.

Once the sale is added to DNJournal, it will rank as the fourth largest sale of 2020 (to date), behind the $415,000 sale of 151.com and ahead of the $396,769 sale of BoatsForSale.com. I also added just added this sale to the Embrace.com list of recent one word .com domain name sales.

This was not the only six figure sale reported by GoDaddy in its June report. The company also brokered the following six figure sales:

  • lendable.com – $125,000
  • wbs.com – $115,000
  • vaninsurance.co.uk – $106,769
  • fivenines.com – $100,000
  • vaninsurance.com – $100,000

This sale was reported in GoDaddy’s June sales report. The company previously announced that GoDaddy will report its top 20 domain name sales on a several month-trailing basis. I presume GoDaddy received permission to report these sales – or at least was not asked to keep the sales information private.
