On Thursday afternoon (January 30, 2020) at 4pm, NamesCon will be honoring the life of Charlie Gilbert. Charlie was a beloved friend to many in the domain industry. Sadly, Charlie passed away last year after courageously fighting Pulmonary Hypertension. Charlie is missed by her friends and colleagues who continue to think about her and have been honoring her memory in various ways.
Michael Ward, who has been involved in the domain business for as long as I can remember, will be running 2020 Tampa O2breathe Walk and 5K on Saturday, February 1 in honor of Charlie. This event raises funds for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA). Here’s what Michael wrote about the fundraising effort:
“I will be running in memory of Charlie this weekend and have set up this fundraiser to help those who are fighting this illness today.
PH can affect anyone of any age, and it is a chronic and life-changing disease that can lead to right heart failure if left untreated. The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is focused on extending and improving the lives of those affected by PH. Your donation will support that very work in a variety of ways including research for new treatments, resources for patient support groups and access to conferences and symposiums for patients and PH medical professionals. “
Michael has set a fundraising goal of $1,000, and he is almost half way there right now. If you are able, do something to honor the memory of Charlie. If you can donate to Michael’s fundraiser, I know her friends and family would appreciate that. I also know they would appreciate it if you sign up to be an organ donor.
If you are at NamesCon, say hello to her husband, Brian. He really likes hugs.
