Sunday Thoughts, Updates, and a Domain Sales Question

We’re in the middle of a drought and a heatwave in Eastern Massachusetts. It’s 97 degrees today, and we just got back from the local pond. One kid is watching Sofia next to me and the other is napping. I figured I would share some domain industry thoughts and updates with you.

But first, a question I just posted on Twitter:

If you were buying a domain name in USD and the seller would like to be

Saturday Morning Thoughts & Updates

Yesterday was a great day! If you follow my Twitter account, you know that the $10,000 Pan-Mass Challenge fundraising goal I set was met yesterday afternoon! With the help of friends and colleagues, we were able to raise $10,000 for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, one of the best cancer research and treatment organizations in the world. There was a ton of domain industry support, and that is sincerely appreciated.

Here are some domain industry thoughts and updates I wanted to share with you:

Earlier this week, I wrote about how I don’t understand why so much money was paid to operate the .Web registry. A couple of friends shared their thoughts about .Web privately with me, and

Elliot Pan Mass ChallengeI am almost done my Pan-Mass Challenge training. Since the beginning of May, I have been slowly increasing the mileage of my bike rides. In June, I began doing longer rides on consecutive weekend days, maxing out at around 120 miles over two days. With the PMC two weeks away, the training schedule is tapering down a bit. Yesterday’s 68 mile ride was the last long training ride before PMC weekend! I feel pretty good and am ready to ride! Now all I need to accomplish is my $10,000 fundraising goal for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and its Jimmy Fund.

Here are some of my domain name industry thoughts and updates from the last week or so. As always, you are welcome to share any of your updates in the comment section, especially if you found something that others might find interesting:

Sunday Thoughts & Updates: Anniversary Edition

Today marks 9 years since I started blogging about domain names. Crazy to think I’ve been doing this for so long. I am very thankful for the readers who visit regularly and of course for the advertisers who continue to support my writing efforts.

It’s also Father’s Day today, and I hope that those of you with kids are celebrating. I’m writing this before Father’s Day so I can spend the day with my kids (and my parents, too!).

I am training for the PMC, and yesterday marked the first time I did two long cycling rides on consecutive days. I am a bit sore today but not feeling nearly as badly as I thought I might. I appreciate the words of support that have been given, and I also appreciate the help with fundraising. Just under two months to go before the 2-day, 163 mile ride.

Here are some thoughts and updates I want to share with you today. You are welcome to share yours as well.

Since moving out of New York City, I come back to visit a few times a year. It’s always fun visiting the City, but I sometimes miss living here. There are so many more food options, always things to do, and there’s a buzz that I don’t find elsewhere. There’s something to be said about living in the suburbs though.

Here are some thoughts and updates. I invite you to share your own thoughts, updates, and comments if you have any.
