Did Domain Name Give Away Washington NFL Rebrand?

A fraternity brother of mine is a news television director for Fox 5 in Washington, DC. Yesterday, he reached out to chat with me on Twitter about a domain name that could be related to the rebranded Washington NFL football team. Commanders.com recently transferred to MarkMonitor and is now registered to its DNStination privacy service.

The Washington Football Team, formerly known as the Washington Redskins, is undergoing a rebrand. Speculation has mounted for many months about the new name of the NFL team. When Commanders.com transferred to the brand protection registrar used by the NFL for some of its domain names, people began speculating that the NFL team would soon be known as the Washington Commanders:

Portugal.com Sold for $350,000 via Sedo’s Great Domains Auction

The largest sale in last month’s Great Domains auction at Sedo was Portugal.com for $350,000. As with all auctions, a domain name is not really considered sold until the transaction is processed by the platform. It looks like the sale of Portugal.com has gone through, according to a tweet from Sedo:

B.et Domain Hack Sold for $100k

This morning, NameBio reported that the B.et domain hack was sold for $100,000. I do not know if the domain name was listed for sale via Sedo or if the domain name sold in private and the parties chose to use Sedo for escrow. The domain name was sold by DomainHacks.com via Sedo, according to the tweet:

Angel.com Sold for $2 Million via Sedo (Update)

Sedo Sr. Broker Dave Evanson just reported the sale of the Angel.com domain name for $2 million:

Best Buy Puts Swirl.com Up for Sale

I don’t regularly see large companies looking to sell excellent one word .com domain names, so I thought I would share a sale listing I recently noticed. Swirl.com has gone up for sale via MarkMonitor and Sedo. The domain name currently hosts an inquiry form to get in touch with a broker from the brand protection service where the domain name is registered.
