Uniregistry Domain Names Now at GoDaddy

Uniregistry has been selling its new gTLD domain names since the end of February of this year,  but they have not been selling them via GoDaddy, the largest domain name registrar in the world. According to a tweet from Uniregistry founder Frank Schilling, as of yesterday, new gTLD domain names managed by Uniregistry are now available for purchase by customers at GoDaddy.

I checked, and GoDaddy is now selling Uniregistry extensions like .link, .sexy, .tattoo, .blackfriday, .guitars, and others. The pricing seems comparable to other registrars, although the prices are more expensive than buying the domain names directly from Uniregistry (not taking any discounts into consideration).

In February of this year, Kevin Murphy of DomainIncite.com wrote an article about “why registrars are boycotting .sexy” and other Uniregistry new gTLD domain names. In his article,

Bob & Renee Parsons Discuss Commitment to Philanthropy

5

GoDaddy founder Bob Parsons and his wife Renee Parsons are known to be philanthropic, and I want to share the CBS 5 video below. In the video, Renee Parsons discusses the family’s commitment to philanthropy by helping a variety of non-profit organizations.  The focus of the video is local organizations in Arizona, and the accompanying article also discusses the Parsons’ commitment to philanthropy in general.

Mr. Parsons was recently named to the 2014 Forbes 400 list with a net worth estimated by Forbes at $1.9 billion. The first two members of the Forbes 400 list are Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, two noted philanthropists who started The Giving Pledge to encourage others to greatly participate in philanthropic causes by the tune of 50% of their net worth. In December of 2013, it was announced that Bob and Renee Parsons joined  The Giving Pledge.

GoDaddy to Open Global Technology Center

GoDaddy is gearing up for the grand opening of the GoDaddy Global Technology Center in Tempe, Arizona. The grand opening celebration will take place tomorrow, and there will be tours of the facility as well as an “unorthodox ribbon cutting” ceremony.

The Center is billed as a collaborative work environment, and it will be home to 1,100 employees (engineers, developers, corporate staff, and consultants). Over the past year, the company hired 200 employees to work in its  Tempe location, and I am told the company intends to hire an additional 250 employees to work in the new building in the next year or so.

Here is how the company describes the Technology Center:

“The specially-designed workplace is a two-story, 150,000 sq. ft. facility featuring employee-amenities like: a fitness area, yoga room, game center, indoor climbing wall and go kart track, plus outdoor basketball and sand volleyball courts, as well as a soccer field, eco-friendly features and a giant slide from the second-floor office area into a full-service kitchen with on-site chefs.”

Bob Parsons #343 on 2014 Forbes 400 List

4

The 2014 Forbes 400 list was revealed a week ago, and GoDaddy founder Bob Parsons is once again listed amongst the wealthiest individuals in the United States. In this year’s list, Mr. Parsons ranks #343, with an estimated net worth of $1.9 billion. Most of his wealth was earned as a result of the success of GoDaddy, which recently filed paperwork to become a publicly traded company.

This is not Mr. Parson’s first time being on the Forbes 400 list. In 2013, Mr. Parsons also made an appearance on the Forbes 400 list, ranking #296. His estimated net worth was also $1.9 billion last year, so despite his estimated net worth  not changing year over year, his ranking went down 47 spots.

Parsons’ first year on the Forbes 400 list was in

GoDaddy Aftermarket Hangout Recap

3

Earlier this evening, GoDaddy hosted a Google+ Hangout to discuss buying domain names on the company’s aftermarket. GoDaddy’s Joe Styler and Brian Cowen participated in the Hangout, and the video of the Hangout has been posted below for your viewing.

The primary topics of this Hangout were to discuss buying valuable domain names via the GoDaddy aftermarket. Specifically, the duo discussed:

  • What makes up the GoDaddy aftermarket
  • What makes a domain name valuable
  • Live domain name valuations / appraisals

People posed questions and domain names were submitted for a live off the cuff valuation. If you didn’t have a chance to watch or participate live in the GoDaddy Google Plus hangout and you want to ask some questions, you are welcome to submit them below. I will let Joe Styler know there are questions if that is the case, and hopefully he will be able to find the time to answer them.

Here’s the video of tonight’s GoDaddy Aftermarket Hangout:

GoDaddy HangOut to Discuss Aftermarket Purchases

6

GoDaddy will be holding a Google Plus Hangout to discuss buying domain names on the company’s aftermarket platform. The event will be held on the company’s Google+ page on October 2, and it will begin at 7pm and last for one hour. There is no cost to attend the event, and the event is open to anyone interested in learning more about GoDaddy aftermarket domain name acquisitions.

Leading this event will be Joe Styler, Aftermarket Product Manager at GoDaddy, and Brian Cowen, Lead Domain Broker at GoDaddy. It looks like they will share advice and strategy on how to buy domain names via GoDaddy’s aftermarket (auctions and private acquisitions). Participants can submit questions to be answered during the hangout. It also looks like people can submit questions or comments in advance, and I assume those might be addressed during the event.

I have found that some people get confused about the various
