Daily Poll: Do You Operate any Websites?

10

I have tried my hand at development. The majority of my smaller websites didn’t really earn much money. I have sold a couple of domain names that had relatively successful websites on them, and I still operate several websites, including this one. At the present time, I have no plans to take on any new web development projects, although I suppose that could change if the right opportunity came around.

Today’s poll question is: Do You Operate any Websites? You are invited to vote in the poll below and are welcome to share additional thoughts in the comment section.

Daily Poll: Do You Own Crypto Domain Names?

15

Cryptocurrency has been a hot topic (and investment) for the last couple of years. As a result, cryptocurrency related domain names have taken off in popularity and perhaps in value as well. It seems like every day, I see sales reports with cryptocurrency domain names at marketplaces like Sedo and auction venues like GoDaddy Auctions and NameJet. I don’t really own any crypto domain names (beyond a few hand registered names), but it seems like a lot of people are buying them.

Today’s poll question is do you own any crypto related domain names? You are welcome to share your thoughts below.

Daily Poll: Will Cryptocurrency Domains Stay Hot in 2018?

16

It is quite obvious domain names related to cryptocurrency are selling very well. Domain registrars, domain investors who own the most relevant domain names, and domain brokers seem to be doing quite well with these types of domain names. I think quite a bit of attention has deviated from the domain investment business to cryptocurrency over the last couple of years. Whether it continues to drive attention away or is a temporary distraction (for lack of a better word) remains to be seen.

Interestingly, I am going to publish an article about what must have been a great crypto domain name sale later on this morning… stay tuned.

Daily Poll: Do You Invest in Cryptocurrency?

12

Obviously one of the biggest topics in the world right now is cryptocurrencies, ICOs, tokens, and anything else crypto related. Billions of dollars worth of cryptocurrency is traded daily on exchanges and platforms throughout the world.

In my opinion, quite a bit of money and attention from the domain name world has moved to cryptocurrencies. Today’s daily poll asks whether you invest in cryptocurrency. I am interested to see what percentage of domain blog readers are also involved in the world of cryptocurrency. If you answered yes, I would be interested in knowing if you have pulled money out of the domain space to invest in crypto. If you answered no, I would be curious if you are thinking about investing.

Daily Poll: Do You Use Domain Brokers to Sell Domain Names?

2

I don’t regularly use domain brokers to sell my domain names. There are some exceptional brokers, but I typically do my own marketing when I am looking to sell a domain name. I have worked with several brokers before – both when buying a domain name and selling a domain name. There are certainly some standout brokers in the industry who do a great job on behalf of their clients.

Daily Poll: Do You Manage Your Own Inbound Leads?

4

When someone inquires about a domain name I own, I negotiate with them. The negotiation is one of the more riveting aspects of domain name ownership, and I enjoy it. Some people don’t feel comfortable negotiating and others prefer to use an expert – like a domain broker – when they get inbound leads. The thinking (from what I understand) is that they will end up with a better price if they work with someone who negotiates for a living, even after commission, than if they negotiated on their own. A negotiation can be stressful and time consuming, so handing off a negotiation to someone else is desirable for some people.
