Healthy.io Does .IO the Smart Way

Last night, VentureBeat published an article about a $60 million round of funding for a company called Healthy.io. The healthtech startup has now reportedly raised around $90 million in funding to date:

As you can see, Healthy.io uses the .IO ccTLD for its website. In my opinion, this company is using its non .com domain name in a very smart way.

Sedo’s .UK Auction Results

On the heels of its auction last month that resulted in the sale of 240 .UK domain names, Sedo held another .UK domain auction that closed today. This auction saw 68 domain names sell for 28,621 GBP, which is just shy of $35,000 USD.

The auction just ended this afternoon, so the sales are not yet closed. Once the buyers pay and the domain names are successfully transferred, Sedo will publicly report these sales. This should be considered tentative until Sedo reports them officially.

Yesterday, I wrote about the results from Sedo’s .Uk domain name auction in which 240 domain names were sold at a value of approximately $95,000 USD. A reader named Steve asked if I could share sales data from the initial .UK domain name release held between July 1-5. I reached out to Nominet, and I was sent a link to an article published by the registry last week.

Sedo hosted a .UK domain name auction that concluded earlier today. 240 .UK domain names were sold via auction. The total sales value of the auctions was 76,149 GBP, which is approximately $95,254 USD.

There were quite a few excellent keyword .UK domain names in auction, and the order of the results was a bit surprising to me. Put another way, if I had to guess the order of the sales ranking them from largest to smallest before the conclusion of the auction, I would have been way off.

Neustar to Continue Operating .US Extension

According to a press release I received today, Neustar has been awarded the contract to continue operating the .US ccTLD extension. The contract was awarded by the US Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), and the contract length is for up to ten years. There are over 2 million .US domain names currently registered.

I read an article in this morning’s New York Post about Mississippi gubernatorial candidate Robert Foster denying a female reporter’s request to travel along with him on a campaign “ride along.” The NYPost article referenced a tweet from the candidate discussing his decision.
