Verisign Job Opening: Platform Manager

Verisign posted a job opportunity via LinkedIn approximately three weeks ago, and it might be of interest to someone with domain industry experience. Verisign is looking to hire a Platform Manager to help manage the company’s domain name registry platforms. Verisign operates the .com, .net, .gov, and several other extension. The company will also operate the .Web registry.

Here’s an excerpt from the job listing describing what the Platform Manager job entails:

“The Domain Name Registry Platform Manager plays a key role in managing Verisign’s registry platforms. This position participates in strategy development for registry platforms by leveraging an understanding of functional requirements as defined by customer groups as well as current and pending contractual and policy requirements. Additionally, this role partners with the Technology Services Group, develops business requirements, translates them into functional specifications for the organization and manages changes to such specifications.

The Platform Manager coordinates the cross-functional team to meet the contractual requirements of the highly visible registry platform. The position requires the Manager to balance technical improvements and maintenance with business and policy items to properly prioritize the items for the platform’s roadmap. Additionally, the Platform Manager educates the business and cross-functional teams on new applications and processes related to platform and feature enhancements and ensures the team is equipped and trained appropriately.

The Platform Manager will resolve a wide range of issues in innovative and practical ways and should demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to challenges. The Platform Manager will also gather, track and report metrics and key performance indicators for new initiatives, features and functionality.”

In the qualification section of the job posting, Verisign mentioned domain industry experience and expertise several times. In fact, the role would likely be a good fit for someone who has domain registry management experience, either with another industry company or even via ICANN.

At the time of publication, there have been fewer than 25 job applicants via LinkedIn. The Platform Manager position will be based out of Verisign’s Reston, Virginia headquarters.
