There are Almost 30,000 .Love Domain Names

Did you know there is a .Love new gTLD extension? .Love domain names can be bought at many domain registrars, and it looks like there are nearly 30,000 .Love domain names registered. I had forgotten about the .Love extension until I saw a Valentine’s Day tweet from InterNetX this afternoon:

I was curious to see if there were many .Love domain names in use right now, and here are a few of the more interesting and/or creative .Love domain names that are registered and being used for websites or forwarding:

  • Cookie.Love – (Insomnia Cookies)
  • Sermons.Love
  • Spicy.Love – A dating app called Jaumo
  • GulfShores.Love – Meyer Vacation Rentals
  • Choose.Love – Choose Love refugee assistance (I previously tweeted about this organization after Banksy held a contest to benefit Choose Love).

Because of Whois masking, it is not possible to tell who the registrant is via Whois record, so I am making assumptions about the registrants listed above.

According to nTLDStats.com, it looks like 63% of registered .Love domain names are parked. My Google site:.Love search showed quite a few indexed sites using .Love domain names as forwarders to existing websites.

My wife would prefer chocolates and roses over a .Love domain name, but I suppose it could be a creative Valentine’s Day gift.

  1. 30,000 registration sounds pretty good which is a strange thing to have to say. In past 30,000 names would be a complete disaster but in todays market it is better than most.

Still this extension will eventually need to be firesaled in my view, they’d be lucky to have $150k in annual revenue on that volume and it is highly unlikely to be profitable. It is only going to make sense to someone running a lot of other strings.
