Alan Dunn and his family are very involved in generating awareness of autism and fundraising for Autism Speaks. Earlier this year, Alan launched AutismAwareness.com, a website dedicated to helping people learn about autism. In addition, Alan’s family annually raises money for Autism Speaks via Team Alek, named after his son, Alek.
Yesterday evening, I received an email from Alan announcing their annual Autism Speaks fundraising drive. Here’s what Alan had to say about the campaign:
Alek is an awesome, happy (not so little anymore!) boy, he makes us smile every day, is a star at his school, and we are so proud of how hard he works to function in a world that sometimes does not make sense to his brain. The behavioral support he receives that helps him succeed in everyday tasks that we all otherwise take for granted in ourselves and our children, would not be possible without the advocacy and support of research from Autism Speaks.
Our family has had so much fun participating in Walk Now for Autism Speaks Philadelphia. Last year, Alek’s team even had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at Citizen’s Bank Park!
The Walk will be on Saturday, October 24 this year at Citizen’s Bank Park and if you can spare $1 or two – whatever you can, your help would mean the world.
Team Alek’s fundraising goal for 2015 is $5,000. So far, they have raised just over $1,000. Autism Speaks is a great organization, and any donation will help them.

Thanks Elliot! Really appreciate the plug!
