thought convergence Acquires Agreed Escrow Service

I just received a press release from announcing that the company has acquired the escrow service from Thought Convergence. Agreed was granted its escrow license from the California Department of Business Oversight in October 2012, and the escrow service was introduced during NamesCon. Terms of the acquisition have not been released given that both companies are closely held.

Although this news was surprising to me, it was somewhat less surprising given the recent news of Thought Convergence's sale of to Igloo. It made sense for Thought Convergence to operate an escrow service that worked closely with its domain resale marketplace, but after the sale of, it probably didn't fit within the company's ecosystem.

This acquisition allows to acquire the updated technology and platform that Agreed uses, which should benefit customers as well as the company. For the time being, will forward to, and the Agreed technology will be integrated with → Read More Now Live With Special Offer

Domain Roundtable is coming back!  The conference, which was on a hiatus in 2010, will be held March 1-4, 2011 at the Atlantis Resort in  Nassau, Bahamas. Domain Roundtable is put on by Thought Convergence, the company that owns and operates, DomainTools, and Trafficz, among other leading domain companies.

The new website just went live after some aesthetic work, and organizers are now offering complementary Tuesday Excursions for the  first 100 people who register to attend. Popular excursions include behind the scenes tours, snorkeling, rum and cigar tasting, deep sea fishing, and more.

The early bird registration rate is an affordable $695, which will slowly increase to $995 as it gets closer to the conference.

As with most domain conferences, a live domain auction will be held on site, and they are now accepting domain submissions on the DRT website. → Read More

Traffic Sunday Updates

I am driving down to Miami tomorrow for the Traffic conference. Based on what I am hearing, it sounds like its going to be a pretty big conference. Here are a few things I am looking forward to at the show (on an iPad so my apologies for any typos):

- I hear that somewhere in the ballpark of 300-400 people will be in attendance. This is a great turnout compared to some recent Traffic shows. It will be a good chance to meet with people I don't see very often. The last big conference I attended was DomainFest in January. Rick and Howard have put a lot into making this a big conference.

- I think the auction is going to see some good results. There are quite a few good names that seem to have reasonable reserves. With some recent underwhelming auctions, I think Rick Latona and his team have been working harder than ever to ensure a successful auction.

- One of my favorite domain names at Rick's auction is, and it's not because I received a fruit basket advertising the name. Aside from a company like Harry and → Read More

Domainer Mardi Gras Auction List Released

banner250x2The live auction list for's Domainer Mardi Gras auction has been released, and there seems to be some pretty good values in the list. The auction will be held live and simultaneously online on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 2:45pm (EST).

Below is the most updated list that I have, and the names I like are bolded.   As a FYI, is a domain name I am selling, and I priced the reserve much lower than my clearance price to drive interest.

If you can't make it to the conference, register to bid online ASAP.
