BuyDomains Now Owns Famous DCLeaks.com Domain Name

0

If you read or watch the news, one domain name is likely to stand out in the reporting: DCLeaks.com. For those who haven't been following the news reports, here's information from the Wikipedia entry about DC Leaks:

"DCLeaks (also known as DC Leaks) is a website that was established in June 2016. Since its creation, it has been responsible for publishing leaks of emails belonging to multiple prominent figures in the United States government and military. Cybersecurity research firms say the site is a front for the Russian cyber-espionage group Fancy Bear. On July 13th, 2018, an indictment was made against 12 Russian GRU military officers; it alleges that DC Leaks is part of a Russian military operation."

Interestingly, it looks like DCLeaks.com is now owned by BuyDomains, and the company has it listed for sale. The asking price of DCLeaks.com is $3,288. The company currently has it parked, where it is showing politics-related PPC links. It would be very interesting to know how much traffic the domain name gets with its → Read More

Mayweather Bought “Girl Collection” Domain Name via BuyDomains

8

In the lead up to the big Floyd Mayweather vs. Connor McGregor fight in Las Vegas tonight, Floyd Mayweather has been spending the evenings at his new Las Vegas strip club called "Girl Collection." Smartly, it looks like Mayweather (and his team) bought the GirlCollection.com exact match domain name, which is being used for its website. They were also able to secure the exact match @girlcollection Twitter account and @girlcollection Instagram account.

Using the DomainTools Historical Whois tool, I was able to see that the domain name was previously owned by BuyDomains, one of the largest domain portfolio owners. The domain name was originally registered in December of 2001.

Because BuyDomains typically reports the prices of the domain names it sells, I was able to find the price listed on NameBio. It looks like the domain name was acquired for (more…) → Read More

BuyDomains Running Excellent Targeted Banners

6

A couple of weeks ago, someone  inquired about CiaoBella.com, a domain name I acquired last year. I did a bit of research to see who owns CiaoBella domain names in other extensions, and I saw that BuyDomains owns both the .net and .org. I visited the domain names to see their asking prices, and I moved on to look at other domain names of interest.

When I was visiting a popular mainstream news website a day or two later, I came across a BuyDomains advertising banner. The reason the banner was special was because it had CiaoBella.net listed along with a special promotion offering me a 20% discount on if I purchase the domain name.

I  regularly see targeted Adsense advertising based on  various product searches I have done, but I have never seen any focused on specific domain names I previously looked at. Had I been a real prospective buyer for CiaoBella.net, I might have been induced into making an inquiry, especially with the special discount the company offered.

After seeing the banner, I connected with Karen Dixon, Vice → Read More

BuyDomains End of Year Auction at SnapNames

1

The BuyDomains end of year auction being held at Snapnames is closing on Thursday afternoon at around 3pm Eastern, and there are 108 domain names listed for sale. All of the listed domain names are owned by BuyDomains / NameMedia. I have inquired about several of the listed domain names in the past, and off the top of my head, it appears there have been price concessions made.

Listed below are the domain names that currently have bids as of publication. I bolded the names that have met the reserve price. (more…) → Read More

BuyDomains Video: How to Find a Perfect Domain Name

5

I want to share the video below, which is currently being promoted on the BuyDomains home page. The company is educating its SMB end user audience about the value in spending money to purchase the "perfect domain name" in the aftermarket rather than hand registering a lower quality domain name. It helps to answer the question that  end user buyers may have: "why should I pay $3,000 for this domain name when I can register one for $10?"

Aside from the fact that this video will be seen by many end users, I think domain investors can benefit from this video by sharing it with potential buyers. Let's say you're involved in a negotiation and the prospect mentions that they are considering other domain names. You can share this video to illustrate why they should buy the better domain name. Similarly, you can share this video with a company that is operating on a lesser quality domain name than the one you'd like to sell.

VP of Marketing Karen Dixon Discusses Revamped BuyDomains Website

17

It's an exciting day at NameMedia. Today we re-launched BuyDomains.com, our domain sales platform that was founded over ten years ago.  Our goal for the new site was to simplify the process of searching for and purchasing premium domain names, and to provide an ideal user experience and valuable resources that our small business customers rely on to make their domain investment decisions.

The new site is easy to navigate, and removes clutter while keeping important and relevant information that supports premium domain purchases front and center.  The shopping cart is streamlined and gets domains in the hands of customers faster.  We still have our world-class sales and service teams available to assist customers 24/7.

And we have more improvements on the way. Coming in the next release will be additional search filter options, the ability to download search results and a number of other features.

What does this mean for domain investors?  We've made it easier for end users to purchase your domains listed on Afternic, → Read More
