It’s been a while since I published some of my recent domain name acquisitions, so I thought I would share some of them with you this morning. The domain names below are names I acquired either in private or via auction.
A couple of these pickups were a bit atypical for me. I generally stay away from “brandable” types of domain names, but I had an affinity for TravelAnywhere.com and iCustomize.com. With TravelAnywhere.com, I thought it would make the perfect home for a world travel website. With iCustomize.com, I thought it would be the perfect domain name for a website that has people make custom products. I don’t know if they’ll ever sell for big money, but I think they are both worth much more than I paid. As with everything, time will tell.
My recent domain name acquisitions:
- DialysisMachines.com
- FamilyCamps.com
- TravelAnywhere.com
- SelfPortraits.com
- ProductDistributors.com
- iCustomize.com
- HandDoctor.com
- AstrologySign.com
- PrivateChefs.com
As always, I invite you to share the domain names you recently acquired in the secondary market. This isn’t a sales post, but I always find it interesting to see what types of domain names people are buying in the aftermarket.
As usual great pickups Elliot, I posted recently if somebody wants to see how this is done pay attention to what Elliot is getting and these are a perfect example.
My best recent pick up was Madopskrifter.com which is recipes in Danish, I was a bit nervous about it because I don’t speak Danish and I am real cautious getting names in languages I do not speak, but it looks like that is what it means and it seems to be used quite a bit, and it was cheap enough so I am happy with it.
Thank you for the compliment.
I am from Denmark and can confirm what madopskrifter means recipices – nice name
Hi Elliot, those are great names. I recently acquired PhotographySchool.com and Paddleboarder.com.
RedCards.com, http://mmjamerica.com/red-card-colorado-how-to/
Hello Elliot,
Great handful of domains. Good luck.
I have only purchased two domains in the aftermarket in my 17 years of domaining.
I received emails from those auction type sales pitches where they allow you to make an offer. I had purchased NukeHosting.com as well as The420Club.com both for $99 each in separate sales. I own associated domains such as nuke-hosting.com and 420Club.com so it was a great addition to my collection.
I had recently (3 days ago) purchased two brand new domains from a registrar at the wholesale price of just $9.49 each which are MotorcycleForecast.com and MotorcyclistForecast.com
I found it pretty amazing that these were not taken. Maybe someday if I have the resources they would make a great site for Motorcyclists to check current local weather since most of us prefer not to ride in the rain.
Thanks again for your very informative site and the knowledge you bring to our industry.
what about weather.com for bike trips
Yes, Chris I actually use accuweather.com myself. the names suck but at least they spell something.. I see a lot of real crap on some of these auction sites, etc. I’m just a collector.. domains are like beer cans or baseball cards to me. I’ve got a lot of stupids ones. what about a motor cyclist weather app for the iphone. lol peace

Elliot,
As usual with your acquisitions, a fantastic selection of consumer-intent keyword domains. Was hoping you could you share any thoughts or strategies in regard to mobile apps from the domain investor view? Do you see the shift to mobile a bigger risk to domains than might be generally assumed? Thanks again
I really like travelanywhere.com, awesome acquisition.
All your names as usual are smart picks.
I haven’t had a go at teh aftermarket for a while as have been dabbling with the new gTLD

Elliott, did you check TDNAM?
I just randomly checked one of your pickups, Private Chef, and it’s an active TM (owned by PrivateChefsInc.com). I’d be careful with those current ads and how you move ahead selling the domain.
By TDNAM, do you mean USPTO?
The only TM I see for “private chef” covers the frozen food category. I bought PrivateChefs.com because I think it would make a great directory website for people who are professional private chefs.
I am confident in the descriptive nature of the domain name.
On a side note, it seems that just about every descriptive keyword / phrase has some sort of trademark associated with it, and usage is important.
My bad, yes of course I meant USPTO. I was more worried about reg# 3179551.
Unfortunately more and more descriptive words get trademarked. The daily increase in TM’s makes investing in descriptive/keyword domains more and more of a gamble. Either way, good luck with your project 🙂
PS: Please correct my little spelling “glitch” in that last comment.
Thanks… I see it along the lines of DogWalker.com / DogGroomers.com where private chefs sign up for paid listings and people can search via zip code.
In any case, if a threat would be made against this descriptive domain name, I would defend my right to own it.
Yeah, sounds like a good way to utilize such a great domain. Best of luck to you!
In case of a UDRP I’m sure they have no case as long as you stick to that dev plan 🙂
