Atom.com will be hosting its annual Black Friday sale, which begins on November 16th. Traditionally, Black Friday is the day after the Thanksgiving holiday in the US, which is November 27th this year.
The way this works is that Atom will offer discounts of up to 25% on platform-listed domain names as part of its Black Friday sale. I think this means Atom can offer a discount of any amount maxing out at 25%. Domain sellers don’t choose the domain names or the discount amounts on an individual basis. This is done automatically by Atom.
The caveat to this is that sellers need to opt-in to this marketing campaign in advance for their domain names to be included and offered with the discounted price. Sellers who do not opt-in (or who decide to opt out because they were previously opted in) will not have their domain names highlighted as Black Friday sales.
I believe this means a seller who discounts individual domain names during the event will not have whatever Black Friday special language or graphics displayed on their domain name even though it is also technically for sale.
Atom is giving sellers until November 9th to decide whether to opt-in or opt-out if that option was previously selected. You can opt-in or out in your seller dashboard under “Discounts on Auto Pilot” in marketplace settings. Domain names listed in the Ultra Premium Marketplace and domain names with a price of $75,000 or more are not included in Black Friday sales.
I don’t believe I am going to opt in to this promotion.
