ICANN Job Opening: GDD Services Manager

ICANN posted a job opening on LinkedIn that may be of interest to someone with experience in the domain name industry. ICANN is looking to hire a GDD Services Manager. GDD stands for ICANN’s Global Domain Division. The job is part of the ICANN group that “is responsible for managing ICANN’s relationships and contracts with registry operators and registrars.”

ICANN is located in Los Angeles, California, but the job is listed as a hybrid position. I would imagine this means someone would be able to work from home or from outside of LA. I would also imagine there is a travel requirement to meet with partners and clients.

Here’s an excerpt about the position:

“The GDD Accounts and Services team is looking for a self-motivated individual to define and document service requirements and support the delivery of these services to the registry operators and registrars. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and have a strong aptitude to solve complex problems.

The GDD Services Manager must be able to conduct independent research and analysis while collaborating with our partners in other departments to quickly diagnose service-related problems and propose recommended solutions. We strive to deliver win-win-win solutions for the contracted parties, ICANN org, and the global internet community.”

There is not a specific requirement for the person who is hired to have domain name industry expertise, but the listing states, “[E]xperience working in the domain name industry is a plus.” Someone who worked as an account manager at a domain registrar or a domain registry might be a good fit for this role. The salary is listed as $100,000 – $110,000, but that might vary depending on the location of the person who is hired.
