A Few Updates to Start the Week

10

This weekend was one of the best weekends I had in a long time. We had a big party on Sunday to celebrate Hailey’s 2nd birthday. Nothing makes me happier than seeing her with a big smile on her face. I realize how fortunate we are to have a happy and healthy child.

I want to share a few updates to start your week. I realize some of these updates may have already been posted elsewhere, but I haven’t spent much time on business this weekend.

  • .CLUB landrush starts tomorrow. Aside from the fact that the .CLUB Registry is a sponsor of this blog, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this registry land among the top in terms of domain names sold. According to a press release I received this morning, MaryKay cosmetics purchased Makeup.club and Beauty.club. In addition, English.club was sold for $17,500. The Registry also announced that major brands secured names such as Audi.club, Chanel.club, NewYorkYankees.club, Harley.club, Lego.club, and Diners.club.

Weekend Updates

I went to the New England Aquarium yesterday for the first time since I was a kid, and it was a blast. If you’re ever in Boston with children, the Aquarium should be on your to do list. Here are some updates. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

  • Speaking of Boston, I am in the beginning stages of planning a get together this summer in Boston. I am trying to figure out whether it makes sense to do a full day event or just a meet up at Fenway Park or something like that. I am leaning towards the later because of the time commitment to organize a larger event, but feel free to let me know your thoughts.
  • I am in the process of putting together a domain investing guide to help people who are new to the business of domain investing. You can see some of the articles I’ve already written (they have links) and some articles that I am working on writing. I would appreciate it if you could share some topics that you think should be covered here. The goal is to create a resource for people looking to learn more about the business of investing in domain names. Your help is appreciated!

(Super Bowl) Sunday Updates!

It’s Super Bowl Sunday, and although I am not nearly as excited as I would be if the Patriots were playing, I am looking forward to the game tonight. Whether the Broncos or Seahawks win, I hope the loser of big Super Bowl Bet between Enom and Name.com films the Chris or Jared visit in their office.

Snowy Sunday Updates

0

It’s another snowy Sunday in Massachusetts! No complaints here because I love the winter and especially the snow. We’re going on a ski trip to Killington this week. It’s my first time skiing Killington, and hopefully they received some of the snow we’ve received over the last couple of days.

Here are some of my thoughts this weekend, as well as some other random BS I want to share. Hope your year is off to a good start and that you have a nice week. If not, perhaps it’s time to figure out what is working and what isn’t, and try to make some plans to do more of what’s working. Of course, it is far easier said than done, but sometimes a reminder is good.

Sharing Some Stats After 3 Months

Many of the people I’ve had conversations with at NamesCon have commented about the transition from Elliot’s Blog to DomainInvesting.com. The migration took place three months ago today, and I thought I would share some of the high level year over year comparison from Google Analytics to give you an idea of how things are going so far.

DomainInvesting.com has received 9.65% more visits between October 15, 2013 – January 14, 2014 than it received between October 15, 2012 – January 14, 2013. For the same time period comparison, DomainInvesting.com has had 11.93% more unique visits and 6.36% additional pageviews. The only metric that is off is

Screen Shot 2014-01-13 at 7.13.13 AMVoting for the best list in the hand registration contest was held last week, and over 260 votes were cast. Thank you all for voting for the winner, and a special thank you to the 6 other participants for being willing to publicize their lists and subject themselves to scrutiny (and positive feedback).

The voting was pretty close for the top 2 lists. In fact, the winning list only won by a margin of 7 votes. The winning list was
