Kathy Nielsen Leaves Sedo to Join Dot Green

Kathy Nielsen worked at Sedo for nearly seven years in a variety of roles, most recently as VP Business Development in Sedo’s Registry Services group. I noticed a change on Kathy’s LinkedIn page, and  she is now listed as Executive Director of Registry Operations and Channel Relations at Dot Green Community, Inc.

I reached out to Kathy to get more information

IDNX Hits 200

1

The IDNX, a price index for the domain market created by MIT Postdoctoral Fellow Thies Lindenthal, has hit the 200 mark. As explained in the tweet below, this essentially means that “A diversified portfolio of domains bought in 2006 should be worth twice as much today.

Obviously for some types of domain names, the values

Sedo Running a “Page Rank Auction”

2

When Sedo changed its advertising banner earlier this week, I learned that they are running what is billed as a “Page Rank Auction” (this is a tracking link, not an affiliate link). The auction features 50 domain names for sale, which all reportedly have a PageRank between 2 and 6.

I reached out to a representative from Sedo to learn more about the auction and here’s what I was told about this domain name auction:

Great Domains Auction Nets Over $275k

Sedo’s Great Domains auction for August closed yesterday, and Sedo recorded over $275,000 USD in sales. The largest sale was for Musik.de, which closed at 99999 EUR. In US dollars, that would be about $131,792.68 at today’s EUR to USD exchange rate. Apps.de was the second highest sale of the auction, and it closed at 49999 EUR, or $65,874.18 at today’s exchange rate. LAM.com was the third largest sale at 48000 EUR, or $63.261.12 USD.

Last month, the Great Domains auction closed with a couple of very large Chat ccTLD domain name sales. Chat.de and Chat.fr sold for over $220,000 USD in that auction.

Since these auctions just concluded yesterday, I would imagine most of these deals have not closed yet. For your reference, the domain names that were sold are listed below. Sale confirmations on the higher value sales will likely be found in DNJournal’s weekly sales reports.

Sedo Introduces New Offer Page

Domain investor Nadia Pessoa noticed a sleek new offer page that appears to have recently been introduced by Sedo. The landing page is clean, shares some information about the domain name, and it makes it very easy and clear that the domain name is for sale and that an offer should be made to buy it.

I am not going to link to this domain name due to parked page TOS, but have a look at Sensor.CO to see the page. When you visit, click on the top non-monetized link that says “The domain sensor.co may be for sale by its owner!.” Once you click on that,

Sedo Posts Numeric Auction Inventory

7

In July, Sedo put out a call for submissions for numeric domain names to be included in a specialty auction. The company recently published the inventory for this numeric domain auction, which will begin on September 3, 2014 and run for one week through September 10.

There are 251 domain names that will be up for auction next month. The domain names are all numeric, and there are a wide variety of extension include – from .com domain names to new gTLD extensions to ccTLD domain names. It runs the gamut. Domain name lengths run from 1 number to several numbers. I am a bit surprised there were no two number .com domain names included in the auction, although there are seven three number .com domain names.

In my opinion, here are 10 notable domain names that are included in this auction:
