NamesCon Black Friday Deal

0

NamesCon conference organizers are offering a special Black Friday deal on conference passes. To promote the special offer, NamesCon is using NamesCon.BlackFriday as a forwarder to the offer page within the conference website.

The special deal is $599 for 2 tickets for the conference or $399 for 1 ticket to the conference (travel and hotel accommodations aren’t included obviously). The current list price for a conference pass seems to be $599.00 + a fee of $27.92, according to the EventBrite booking page.

Conference organizers are also offering special pricing deals on meeting rooms next to the exhibition hall. These deals are aimed at corporate sponsors.

Twitter Poll: Are You Attending NamesCon?

I saw that Twitter began enabling users to post polls, so I thought a poll about NamesCon 2016 would be appropriate.

As I wrote about this morning, NamesCon is offering conference tickets for $399 until the end of the day tomorrow (October 31). The rate will increase to $599, then to $799, until the final $999 door price. The conference will be held at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas from January 10-13, 2016.

I am wondering if you plan to attend the conference in January. Over 1,000 attendees are expected, and I wouldn’t be surprised if closer to 1,200 people attend. There have been over 500 registrations to date, according to NamesCon founder, Richard Lau.

This is my first Twitter poll, and I invite you to participate. You are also welcome to comment here if you don’t have a Twitter account.

NamesCon Price Increasing in 2 Days

NamesCon founder Richard Lau sent me an email to remind me that the price of NamesCon tickets will be increasing on November 1. The discounted $399 rate is good through tomorrow, at which point I am told the conference ticket cost will increase to $599 (it will later increase to $799 and then it will be $999 at the door).

To date, 520 people have registered to attend NamesCon. This is double the number of registered attendees at this time last year. Richard let me know that organizers are expecting more than 1,000 attendees at the  conference.

The NamesCon  agenda is expected to be finalized by the end of November. I am sure there will be interesting panels and talks, but I am mostly interested in the networking opportunities. Richard told me NamesCon will “have a unique networking exhibition we are setting up for opening day from noon to six pm.” He didn’t tell me what it is but it sounds intriguing.

At last year’s conference,

NamesCon Warning: “Hotel Scam Alert”

3

NamesCon organizers sent out an email this morning with a warning for people regarding  a “hotel scam alert.” To my knowledge, I have not received any type of cold calls or emails from third parties about booking my hotel room or other travel arrangements, but I appreciate the head’s up that was given.

Here is an excerpt from the email I received this morning:

NamesCon 2016 Pre-Registrations Pass the 100 Mark

Richard Lau and I have been emailing about NamesCon, and he told me that over 100 people have already registered for the 2016 conference. I presume the discounted $199 rate incentivized people to register early, and the reduced rate is still available until Sunday, March 1. The rate will continue to increase until the conference begins.

Richard shared a quote from Frank Schilling about attending and exhibiting at the upcoming NamesCon:

Howard Lefkowitz Keynote Speech at NamesCon (Video)

I published an interview with Howard Lefkowitz, who recently launched a new venture using new gTLD domain names. Yesterday, Tech Cocktail published an article about Lefkowitz and his new company, and it’s worth a read.

Lefkowitz gave an animated keynote speech during NamesCon last month, and the video of his speech was uploaded to YouTube. When you have half an hour, I think you’ll enjoy watching the video I embedded below.

I don’t regularly attend the keynote speeches at domain conferences, but I think this one is worth your time. I think Lefkowitz’s new venture is fascinating, and it will be fun to see how things work out and how the company grows.  Lefkowitz’s company, One Degree World, is building websites on new gTLD extensions including .Vegas, .Buzz, .Ninja, .Club, and perhaps others.

Here’s the Howard Lefkowitz NamesCon keynote speech video:
