.Club Announces Unlimited Name Blocking for TM Holders

The .Club Registry announced a new DPML-like service to help trademark holders prevent domain names from being registered with their trademarks in them. The new service is called the Trademark Sentry Unlimited Name Blocking Service, and it is outlined in a press release that was published this morning. The registry also shared a video explaining how it works:

VK.app UDRP: Don’t Email TM Holders

A UDRP was filed against the VK.app domain name at WIPO. The UDRP was filed by the company that operates a business on the VK.com domain name. A three member panel ruled in favor of the complainant in the UDRP, despite the fact that VK.app appears to me to be generic enough to be defensible.

RDNH Finding on TheSun.com UDRP

Earlier in 2019, News Group Newspapers Limited filed a UDRP against TheSun.com, a seemingly generic (and quite valuable) domain name. A decision on this UDRP was made, and the three member WIPO panel ruled in favor of the domain registrant. In addition, the panel concluded “that the filing of the Complaint by the Complainant constitutes reverse domain name hijacking.

Micro.Center UDRP Spans the Dot

A UDRP was filed at the National Arbitration Forum (NAF) against the Micro.Center domain name. The complainant in the UDRP is Micro Electronics, Inc., the company that operates on the MicroCenter.com domain name. The UDRP decision was published this morning, and the complainant won. The domain name will be transferred to the complainant unless the respondent opts to litigate.

Legal Threat Within GoDaddy Auction

The top publicly reported domain name sale of the day this past Saturday was the auction for ChefD.com. The domain name sold for $11,850, as reported in a tweet from NameBio on Sunday morning:

According to the WIPO UDRP database, a UDRP has been filed against JudyGarland.com and JudyGarland.net. The UDRP was filed by The Trustees of the Judy Garlands Heirs Trust. The case is WIPO Case D2019-0789. Judy Garland was an American actress who died in 1969. I think this UDRP has the potential to be interesting.
