In 2021, the Candy.com domain name was sold for an undisclosed sum in a deal brokered by Andrew Miller of Hilco Digital and Amanda Waltz, then of Saw.com. At that time, the domain name was acquired by a company that specializes in the sale of digital collectibles. It had previously been sold to a candy company by Rick Schwartz, and that company used it to catapult its business, as noted in DNJournal.
Last week, the company operating on Candy.com announced it would be migrating its business to the Candy.io domain name:

This is atypical, as most businesses opt to upgrade to the .com domain name rather than the reverse.
I have learned the reason for the domain name change – Candy.com was acquired. If you visit Candy.com now, you can see a Hilco Digital landing page announcing the domain name is now for sale. Andrew Miller, Managing Director of Hilco Digital, told me his company and some strategic partners acquired Candy.com for an undisclosed price.
Andrew commented to me about the acquisition this morning:
“In 2021, I oversaw the sale of the Candy.com domain name to Candy Digital, who was represented by Amanda Waltz. In that timeframe, I developed a great relationship with the company who is in the midst of some exciting changes. I can confirm that Hilco Digital and some key partners have acquired the Candy.com asset and are working together with Amanda to finding it a new chapter and its next permanent home. It is unequivocally one of the most valuable, both category, defining, and exact match brand domains on the Internet.”
Candy.com is a highly valuable domain name asset that can be used for many purposes – as its prior usage has demonstrated. I will continue to keep an eye on the domain name to see when it is sold in the future.

Hopefully Candy.com goes to a food-related company this time.
Candy.com the best business with this domain was Rick Schwartz, he believed, helped, invested and made millions of dollars in investment.
This domain has great power, even though it was a very profitable and innovative business in candy products.
Who does not remember licking their fingers with Candy?
They must have been unable to make payment. They’ll be hit hard with SEO, email etc from changing to the .IO. Doubt the company will survive.
This might not be the time to move from the excellent Candy .com location to .(io).

The future of (.io) is more uncertain today than it has ever been.
Miller & Hilco will get top dollar for Candy .com because the market is so rich with deep pocketed prospects.
I’ve got a hunch…the next buyer is going to be G.O.A.T Foods…
.COM is no longer King.
LOL… Ok. https://dnjournal.com/ytd-sales-charts.htm
Good luck.
