Video: Domainer Expo in Las Vegas

Monte Cahn emailed me today about the inaugural Domainer Expo. I understand it is an event that is scheduled to be held in Las Vegas from December 6-7th at the Westgate Resort and Casino. Aside from an email a month ago from one of the event’s organizers, I had not heard about this event until receiving Monte’s email (I don’t believe Monte is involved with organizing the event).

From the looks of it, conference organizers are expecting a large turnout. Quite a few domain industry participants are lined up as speakers. The cost to attend the event is $497 for standard passes or $697 for VIP passes.

The event organizers put together a video explaining what attendees can expect to see at the conference:

I will be traveling to Las Vegas for the ICA meeting in January, so I am not going to make it to this event in December.

  1. What they should be doing is bring the top marketing and advertising executives who make the decisions and enlighten them,on the value of domain names .Not charge investors to attend an expo with little to no value.

I don’t want to just hang out,I want to feel that what I am paying for is worth it .I am paying a fee where accommodation is not included and filled with speakers that repeat thesame thing, just like other domain conferences.

I will pass on this .

    • How would they get these “top marketing and advertising executives” to take time away from operating their businesses or P&L to come to a domain name conference in Las Vegas? What is in it for those people to spend their time and money to get “enlightened” about domain names? Respectfully, that is never going to happen.

    • You have got to get educated sir/mam. We are domainers of not just web2 domains but web3. We understand the tech behind Blockchain domains. You need further education on this. The world as you know it is going web3. With the help of chainlink’s CCIP RWAs are getting tokenized and so web2 domains. There will be a paradigm shift happening. Either you learn and thrive with the new tech or you get siloed and stay behind. Web2 domains are getting tokenized onchain which will give them powers of a native Blockchain domain such as an ENS (.eth). It is the future and it’s already happening. You get Blockchain security, interopability, fast transactions, and more.

    • There’s a “Digital Real Estate Academy” among the sponsors. Their video is like a discount Don Lapre come-on. For $500 you get to watch their videos and they’ll “give” you several domains “worth $2000” because, well, I guess they are too busy to make $6000 for themselves and would rather have your $500. “Do you want to make lots of money with minimal effort?” It’s pure cheese.

Although the video posted in the article is pretty impressive. Apparently, you will stroll around streets nowhere near Las Vegas, and attend a trade show with signs in Cyrillic. So, brush up on your Russian, I guess.
