Victor Pitts Hired by MMX as Director of Premium Sales

Industry veteran Victor Pitts has joined MMX (formerly known as Minds & Machines) as Director of Premium Sales for the Americas. In his new role with MMX, Victor will be working on selling some of the premium-designated domain names in the new extensions operated by MMX. Victor will also be working on various industry partnerships. I am sure his industry experience will be particularly helpful with the later aspect of his new role.

MMX also recently hired Solomon Amoako as VP of Channel Management.

Victor Pitts from shared some information about an auction the company is running with new gTLD domain names from Radix. Opening bids start at $200 and go up to $1,000. The auction features .Website, .Host, and .Press domain names.

One interesting aspect of this auction is that there is a buy it now option on all of the auctions. For people who don't want to risk losing an auction, they can click the buy it now button to pay a higher price but avoid an auction. Buy it now prices run from $750 up to $3,000. I am unsure if a bid placed on an auction eliminates the buy it now option, but I would presume that to be the case.

I want to share some news I received this morning from Victor Pitts of The company is set to announce that participants in the soon to launch  Expiring Domain Sales Program will "retain 60% of the profit from the sale of any domains that they let expire at Above," which are auctioned on the Above Marketplace.

Prior to the launch of this new program, customers didn't receive anything from the sale of domain names they owned that expired, much like most other domain registrars. This presents a new revenue opportunity for clients, and it may give incentive to dropping names instead of renewing them.
