.Club Hits 1 Million Registrations

The .Club registry has hit a milestone - 1 million .Club domain name registrations. According to .Club registry CEO Colin Campbell, the milestone was reached at 3:15 this morning:

According to, there are just 5 new gTLD extensions that have one million or more registered domain names: .XYZ, .Top, .Loan, .Win and now .Club.

As I wrote a couple of days ago, the .Club registry released approximately 4,500 previously reserved domain names. These domain names became available to register yesterday, and I presume this helped the registry surpass the million domain name mark. → Read More

Kevin Fink Interviews Colin Campbell of .Club

I think the .Club registry is one of the most successful new gTLD registries. I want to share an interview NamePros conducted with Colin Campbell, CEO of the .Club registry. The interview took place at NamesCon last year, so it is interesting to watch it one year later. Kevin Fink conducted the interview.

The NamePros team conducted quite a few interviews with other industry executives, and you can catch them on its  YouTube channel. It's neat to witness the growth of NamePros over the last couple of years as it expands beyond a standard forum format and adds videos, interviews, auctions, and other features. I am not an active participant, but I enjoy visiting regularly.

NamesCon Sponsor Spotlight on .Club

Dot ClubNamesCon 2017 is on track for another record-breaking year! People from all facets of the domain industry have already started networking on the NamesCon mobile app and are getting ready to head to Las Vegas in less than two weeks. Tickets are still available for purchase to those wishing to attend the largest domain name conference in the world. The conference is held at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas from January 22-25, 2017.

We are running these interviews to introduce attendees to NamesCon sponsors, and to get to know the people behind the banners. Today's Spotlight interview is with  Jeffrey Sass, CMO at .CLUB Domains, LLC.

What is your company's mandate; what sets you apart?

Unlike many of the new domain extension registries, we are solely focused on one word, .CLUB, and from the beginning, we have approached things from the perspective of building a global brand that anyone with a passion can relate to. As a domain extension .CLUB is unique because its usage is truly global. The word "club," in English, is → Read More

.XYZ, .VIP, and .Club Get Chinese Governmental Approval

Earlier this morning, I received an email and a press release from .XYZ founder Daniel Negari announcing that his company "has received official approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), a Chinese governmental agency in charge of domain name industry." Here was Daniel's reaction to the news on Twitter:

In scrolling through my Twitter feed this morning and reading my news alerts, it looks like the operators of the .VIP and .Club extensions also received this MIIT approval as well. .Club CEO Colin Campbell also shared the news on Twitter this morning:

I can't read the page on the (more…) → Read More

Colin Campbell Predicts Top 5 New Extensions in 10 Years

Yesterday evening on Twitter, .Club CEO and co-founder Colin Campbell made a prediction about the "top" 5 new domain extensions in ten years. Here's what he posted and what his predictions are:

When I saw this, I asked him to define "top." It's a simple term, but it can have many different meanings and interpretations. Specifically, I asked if he means most registrations, most revenue, or most developed websites. Colin responded to my question today, and he was referring to "Top in Global recognition on par with .tv .co and .org."

I am glad Colin didn't mention (more…) → Read More

Goals for .Club in China This Year

Last week, Allegravita and the .Club registry announced that the two companies would continue to work together to continue creating inroads in the Chinese market in 2016. It seems that .Club has found success with its plans to bring .Club domain names to China, and I would imagine that the team at Allegravita has been helpful in this endeavor.

I always find it interesting to see what a company has planned for the new year as well as the goals it wishes to accomplish. I asked Simon Cousins from Allegravita and Jeff Sass and Colin Campbell from the .Club registry if they would be willing to share their goals for .Club in China in 2016. I think you will find it interesting, especially Colin's comments about domain name values.

Simon Cousins had this to say: (more…) → Read More
