Spaceship, the rapidly growing domain registrar and sister company of Namecheap, just surpassed 3 million domain names under management milestone. Less than a year ago, Spaceship hit the 1 million DUM milestone. I think this underscores the company’s momentum and growing influence in the domain space, particularly as it relates to domain investors.
🎉 Today is the day!
3,000,000 domains under management in just 2 years – and counting. That’s 3 million of your ideas, ambitions, and stories.
We’re proud to be part of your journey💙

A week and a half ago, Spaceship Founder Richard Kirkendall predicted the company would become a top 20 domain registrar by volume in the nearterm. That will likely happen when this list is next updated.
In addition to its growth as a domain registrar, Spaceship recently launched its Seller Hub to domain investors looking to find a sales platform. The Seller Hub offers landing pages, self-negotiation capabilities, and transaction management for buyers and sellers. I have not tried the Seller Hub, but I have seen positive feedback from users.
Congratulations to Spaceship on hitting this milestone. The company will need to double its DUM to hit the top 10 registrar hurdle, and I suspect that is going to happen.
I can confirm the following:
1. Spaceship is now one of the best registrars of all time. And apparently continually seeking to improve. I have many domains there. I am almost 100% an end user now, and only infinitesimally a “domainer.”
2. I used to think of and go to a famous competitor first, now I think of and usually go to Spaceship first to register new domains. Never thought that could even happen.
3. As someone who is still < 1% a "domainer," I have tried the seller feature. Glad to have it as a new option, and the 5%, but: the sale page is very plain and restrictive. I want to be able to edit a bit, e.g. to add a description, and some external links, such as to some of my own sites.
4. The new Thunderbolt idea: extremely intriguing, a brilliant idea, and hopefully turns out to be a brilliant offering. On paper, without yet even really looking under the hood (or can you yet?), it sounds like it could possibly be a real game changer.
5. So far we are fortunate and blessed that Spaceship.com is part of the landscape now.
