Whois records show that Salesforce.com has acquired the 111.org domain name. The domain name recently transferred from GoDaddy to MarkMonitor. Using the DomainTools Whois History tool, I can see it had been registered for a short period to NameCorp, Alan Dunn’s domain brokerage. Prior to that, it was registered to a China-based domain registrant.
Salesforce is not yet using the domain name. My guess is Salesforce will use 111.org for its “Pledge 1% movement.” On its website, Salesforce describes this movement in terms of 1+1+1, so 111.org makes sense for this type of organization:
“Salesforce is a different kind of company. Our founders created the 1-1-1 model, which commits 1% of our equity, technology, and our employees’ time to build a more equitable and sustainable world. We’re also a founder and champion of Pledge 1%, a global movement to ensure giving back is part of companies of all sizes.”
Archive.org shows that 111.org had utilized a “for sale” landing page, but the price was not listed. According to NameBio, the only public sales record for 111.org was back in 2011 when this domain name sold for $3,001 via Sedo.
Salesforce owns quite a few exceptional .com domain names. The company has spent a great deal of money acquiring domain names like Desk.com, Work.com, Code.com, Data.com, Lightning.com, and quite a few other multi-million dollar domain name assets.
