Paul Nicks Launches Ads for Legends Business

A couple of years ago, I wanted to find a vintage image of Nantucket I could frame and give as a gift. I ended up choosing a Sports Illustrated from the 1950s that featured Sankaty Head golf course on Nantucket. I spent a considerable amount of time and a fair amount of money hunting down an original copy in good condition so I could frame the cover and give it as a Christmas gift.

A new business was just launched that could have been helpful to me in my hunt for the perfect gift for our friends.

Paul Nicks served in a leadership role at GoDaddy for many years. He was someone I knew I could reach out to with an issue, and it would be put in front of the right person with the resources to help. Paul retired from GoDaddy last year, and I was sorry to see him go. Paul and his brother Rob recently started a business called Ads for Legends, and I love the idea behind it.

Ads For Legends sells original vintage magazine advertisements that can be used as wall art, with a focus on iconic brands and popular subjects. There are numerous topics with many different examples of vintage advertising in each category. People can buy the original image framed or unframed. For example, someone who loves the Porsche brand can find iconic advertisements, get them framed, and hang them in their office or garage. Someone who loves to ski can find images of Vail or Park City (I already bought a few) and hang them in their ski house.

Decorative art like this is great for gifts and for decorating a home or office. Instead of searching through vintage magazines to try and hunt down an original advertisement – and then trying to cut it without damaging it, you can shop on AdsForLegends.com for a vintage advertisement that suits your needs.

I had a look around, and I have two suggestions: add more travel related art and add vintage magazine covers. Perhaps it’s just me, but I would love to see more art like this related to places I love to visit. It would also be cool to put hang framed magazine covers with my favorite musicians or memorable sporting events.

Good luck to Paul and Rob on the new Ads for Legends venture.

  1. Thanks Elliot! Just launched this week, so plenty of work to be done, but we already have ~3k ads cut out, scanned and listed for sale. If nothing else this is a really fun hobby, going through old magazines has been a trip.
