Ode with Anthropic Launched on Ode.com

Ode.com has changed hands. According to a press release issued yesterday, Ode with Anthropic, an AI services company, was launched under its new branding using the Ode.com domain name for its website. The company started out as Fractional AI before its rebrand and launch.

In the daily DomainIQ Domain Monitor email I received last night, I saw the Ode.com nameservers changed, as did the Whois registration. The domain name has long been owned by a domain investment company, and the nameservers changed to AWS. Ode.com did not transfer out of Namecheap, but the Whois record for the domain name is now private.

In addition to securing Ode.com, it the company also managed to secure Ode.ai. That domain name is registered under Whois privacy at Dynadot, and it is now forwarding to Ode.com. I presume the .ai domain name was acquired for defensive purposes.

Ode with Anthropic has some massive backers, as mentioned in the press release:

“Today, Anthropic, Blackstone, and Hellman & Friedman introduced Ode with Anthropic (“Ode”), the AI services firm announced earlier this year, now launching under its official name and brand. Ode is a standalone company that combines Anthropic’s frontier AI models, a team of experienced AI engineers and operators, and the backing of a consortium of leading investors. Alongside the founding partners, the investor consortium includes Goldman Sachs, General Atlantic, Leonard Green & Partners, Apollo Global Management, GIC, and Sequoia Capital.”

Securing the brand matching Ode.com domain name prior to launch was the smart move. I would imagine the company had a ‘whatever it takes’ mindset and funding to secure this valuable asset.

Since Anthropic remains a privately held company, I doubt we will see the sale price for the asset reported.
