GoDaddy CTA: Someone Else is Interested

If you use Afternic and its GoDaddy brokers to sell your domain names, your Lead Center is most likely filled with inquiries that have many “Email sent to buyer” notifications. Most of these outbound messages go unanswered. What are GoDaddy brokers saying in their emails? Most likely some sort of take on ‘are you still interested in the domain name?’

Adam Maysonet shared a screenshot of an email he received from GoDaddy following an inquiry he made to buy a domain name:

GoDaddy is emailing prospective buyers who inquired about a domain name when another prospect made an offer inquired to buy the same domain name. As a seller on the platform, I think this call to action (CTA) email is excellent.

This email shows other prospects there is more demand for the domain name. It tells them that if they don’t make an offer to buy the domain name or agree to the asking price, there’s a chance someone else is going to buy it in the meantime. It is a time sensitive, more aggressive call to action rather than the passive, ‘are you still interested’ type of message that is typically sent.

When people receive standard follow-up emails from GoDaddy, it sends a message that the domain name is still available because nobody else wanted to buy it. The CTA email Adam shared says clearly that someone else has taken a seat at the table to try and buy the domain name. Other prospective buyers will know they need to take action or risk losing the domain name to another buyer.

Alan Shiflett, GM of the Domain Aftermarket at GoDaddy, replied to Adam to let him know this is an experiment. I think it’s a great call to action and hope GoDaddy expands on it – except when I am trying to buy a domain name!
