October Great Domains Auction Results

Well, it looks like the 71% majority of voters who thought EZ.com would sell in Sedo’s  Great Domains auction were incorrect. I was pretty surprised that so many votes were cast thinking that EZ.com would sell in the auction. In the end, the high bid for EZ.com was $430,000. I presume Dave Evanson from Sedo will be working the phones and email trying to get a post-auction deal done.

In total, the auction grossed somewhere around $150,000 in total sales. The results are mixed with USD and EUR, so I am not sure the exact amount of closed sales. The largest sale of this month’s auction was DCR.com which sold for $42,000. ICT.com was the next highest sale at 38,000 EUR. ArtDirector.com sold for $9,999.

As I mention every month after the Great Domains auction sales report, the auctions ended today and most of these deals are likely not yet closed. Sedo will publicly report the sales as payments are made, so keep that in mind when you have a look at these auction results.

  1. Seems to me that Sedo’s Great Domains auctions haven’t been so great recently. I am completely underwhelmed at their results and the names that actually sold. Granted, there are a few nice ones at the top of the monthly lists, but the over-representation of .de domains and the low prices even for the hot 4 letter space are disappointing. Is this a problem with domains chosen for inclusion, the lack of a vibrant market place in these auctions, or something else?
