Earlier this year, the NFL’s New York Jets hired Robert Saleh as the team’s Head Coach. The Jets were widely praised for this hiring. In fact, it was probably the best decision the team has made in many years. If you don’t watch NFL football, you should know the NY Jets have not been a decent football team in several years. I say this as a loyal New England Patriots fan, but I think the team’s record speaks for itself.
I was looking through some domain name registrations, and it appears the NFL and/or New York Jets are preparing for Coach Saleh to have a rough go of it. Last week, the NFL registered at least three domain names related to Coach Saleh sucking. Whois records show that the NFL registered the following domain names via its brand protection domain name registrar, MarkMonitor:
- RobertSaleh.Sucks
- CoachSaleh.Sucks
- Saleh.Sucks
This is not the first time the NFL registered .Sucks domain names related to NY Jets Head Coaches. The NFL also registered AdamGase.Sucks, CoachGase.Sucks, and GaseSucks.com a little less than a year ago. Adam Gase was the team’s Head Coach from 2019-2020. ToddBowles.Sucks has also been owned by the NFL since 2015. Todd Bowles was the Jets’ Head Coach from 2015-2018. Interestingly, Bowles was the Defensive Coordinator for the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It’s probably just the Jets that suck.
I looked up some other sucky NFL Coach .Sucks domain names, and it doesn’t look like the NFL took the same defensive action for all of them. For instance, JoeJudge.Sucks and MattPatricia.sucks are both unregistered. On the other hand, DougMarrone.Sucks and BillOBrien.Sucks have both been registered by the NFL for several years.
My guess is that domain name registrations are made by the NFL on behalf of its teams. Some teams may choose to defensively register .Sucks domain names while other teams may not care enough to do so. Whatever the case, I hope the NFL is justified in its registration of Robert Saleh sucks domain names. I am sure he is a great coach, but the Jets tend to have that effect on its personnel.
