I haven’t attended NamesCon in a few years, but I’ll be heading back to the conference in Miami in November. I purchased my ticket using the 20% off coupon code available to ICA members, so the cost was just shy of $400 for my ticket. I also booked my flight and hotel for the trip. I understand NamesCon ticket prices will increase on Friday.
I decided to attend the conference because I haven’t seen some friends and colleagues in a few years. I saw some at the last few ICA meetings, but there are a few who haven’t attended the ICA events and it will be nice to reconnect with them. Connecting on the phone and email is fine, but meeting in person over a coffee or a meal is preferable.
Seeing the evolution and growth of Rick Schwartz’s Beanstalk Challenge is also a reason I decided to attend. I have been following along with this competition, and I am looking forward to seeing how things are going in November. I know some of the developers who are working on the projects, and should success be found, this could become a good opportunity for other domain investors to drive revenue with their domain names.
November has been a tough time of year because of kid commitments. NamesCon is typically held when Fall sports are coming to an end, but I was able to time my trip in a way that shouldn’t interfere too much with those commitments. It will also be nice to get some Miami sun when we are ramping up for a cold Winter in Massachusetts.
If you’ve been on the fence about NamesCon, now is a good time to consider before the price increase. I was told the ICA will be emailing its members with the coupon discount code at some point this week.
