NameJet Now Offering Text Message Auction Updates

NameJet sent out an email to auction customers this morning announcing they can sign up for SMS/Text Messaging alerts for auctions. Customers will be able to sign up to be alerted via SMS / text on their mobile device for a variety of auction updates.

Customers can receive alerts for the following NameJet auction updates:

  • Auction Start
  • Outbid
  • Auction Wins

In addition to the notification, the alerts will also contain a link to the auction to place a bid. This can be in addition to the standard email alerts auction participants already receive from NameJet

The only caveat to this news is that a US-based phone number is required to participate. Perhaps users outside of the US can sign up for a free phone number on a service like Google Voice, although I am not familiar with all the particulars of that.

The email that was sent did not have a hyperlink to the page to set up the mobile notifications. However, it looks like NameJet customers can navigate to their My Account page, click on Account Details, and then fill out the information on the SMS Settings tab.
