Justin Bieber: “My Tumblr is Joker.Tattoo”

Very early this morning, Justin Bieber posted something on Twitter that probably made Frank Schilling and his Uniregistry team very happy. I embedded the tweet below, but Bieber said, “My Tumblr is Joker.Tattoo“.

As you are probably aware, the .Tattoo new gTLD extension is owned and operated by Uniregistry. The domain name is not directly registered to Bieber, but it appears the domain name is registered to someone whose company is backed by Bieber. The domain name was registered in April.

I reached out to Uniregistry to see if this is a registry promotion, and I was told it is not a promotion. “Nothing paid. We are excited to see him using and seeing the value in our new extension,” said Jeffrey Gabriel. “It is just the beginning. Early adopters like Justin Beiber are seeing the value in extensions like .Tattoo,” he continued.  I was also told that the tweet was not a sponsored tweet either.

Joker.Tattoo is not currently a standalone website, but it is set up to forward to  JustinBieber.tumblr.com, which is  Bieber’s official Tumblr page. Neither JustinBieber.Tattoo nor Bieber.Tattoo are currently registered to anyone. Justin.Tattoo is registered to  North Sound Names.

As of the publication of this article. Bieber’s tweet has received about 24,000 retweets and 29,000 favorites on Twitter. Bieber has 52.5 million followers on Twitter, and his account is the second most followed on Twitter.

  1. Was joker a premium priced domain?
Not that a premium price would be a problem for Bieber.
Bieber probably blows that much money on one night of his partying.

  2. Joker.Tattoo is registered to Sam Shahidi who owns Shots Mobile/Shots.com which is backed by Justin Bieber.

It makes no sense why Justin Bieber would register Joker.Tattoo. Why is it registered to Sam Shahidi? There is much more to this story.

  3. Whoo who. Glad someone out there found a use for a .tattoo tld. I think your headline should read “Loser celebrity uses loser gtld”.

  4. TLD notoriety from any celeb is always in the short term, It wasn’t long ago that Elliot blogged about a rapper for dot club, I for one have no idea what the domain is or the rappers name, and I consider myself someone with a good memory.

I’m also sure that companies like Fox News would like to forget about .Mobi, which they promoted on their news casts.

  5. I don’t think it was a premium domain name to be honest.

Most of the premium names have high search value and I don’t see this one having a lot of search value. Plus Justin wouldn’t have a clue as to what that is anyway.

In any case, very interesting to see high profiles like him hearing about and registering new extensions already. It’s a good sign for the new gTLD market.

  6. @K

Er…WHAT gtld market? Am I missing something? All I hear are crickets. Gtlds are .mobi and .travel revisited. Total waste of time and space.
