Important: 2020 NamesCon Global Date Change

I want to share an update with you that I just received from NamesCon organizers. The date of the NamesCon Global conference in Austin, Texas has been changed. NamesCon Global 2020 will be held from January 29-February 1, 2020. It had previously been scheduled for a few days prior.

Here’s the email that was sent with more details:

Thanks for being among the very first to register for NamesCon Global 2020. We’ve made some changes to the event format that we know you’ll love, which also made it necessary to change the event dates to January 29-February 1.

We wanted you to know about this as soon as the dates were finalized. The main reason is because we’re pretty serious about balancing work and fun, and we hope you’ll agree. We also shifted the main venue to the Omni Hotel in Downtown Austin, so we can better realize our vision for NamesCon Global 2020: The Domain Economic Forum. This is in the same building as the Capital Factory, so the physical location has only moved a few vertical meters. If you can’t make the new dates, your registration will of course be refunded. Please get in touch with us directly: producers@namescon.com. We seriously hope you can still make it, though!

Thank you again for your dedication to the domain industry. We look forward to seeing you in Austin!

Fortunately, I did not yet book my flight or hotel yet. Hopefully organizers will share more details about the conference venues so I can book my trip soon.

I just received a second automated email from NamesCon, which has additional details about why the change was made along with some venue information. This is just a guess, but I think the second email was sent to me because I already paid for my conference ticket and the first email was sent to me because I am on the NamesCon mailing list.

We’ve made a change to the NamesCon Global 2020 format that we know you’ll love, which also made it necessary to change the event dates to January 29-February 1. As one of the earliest attendees to register (and thank you for that!), I wanted you to know about this as soon as the dates were finalized. The main reason is because we’re pretty serious about balancing work and fun, and we hope you’ll agree.

Our NamesCon Europe 2019 Beach Day was such a raging success that we knew we had to include a dedicated fun and networking day in Austin. Since our program for that day (it’s still a surprise) can only be done on a weekend, we’ve shifted the event dates to January 29-February 1. Wednesday the 29th will be our kickoff day, with Beginner and Expert tracks as well as our opening reception. Then we move into two action-packed days of programming, which will of course include the exhibition hall and the famous live domain auction. We’ll wrap up the conference with a day of fun and networking “out of the office”, so to speak.

We’ve also shifted the main venue to the Omni Hotel in Downtown Austin, so we can better realize our vision for NamesCon Global 2020: The Domain Economic Forum. This is in the same building as the Capital Factory, so the physical location has only moved a few vertical meters.

I know that the date change might affect your plans for January, and I’m really sorry about that. Hopefully you can still join us in Austin! If you can’t make the new dates, your registration will be refunded. Thank you again for registering, and for your dedication to the domain industry.

On behalf of the entire NamesCon team, we really look forward to seeing you in Austin.

  1. Been living in Texas for the past 35 years. Expect flights delayed or canceled if you go through Dallas Fort Worth airport. Bad time of the year for hail storms. Just saying.
