ICANN Singapore Coming Up

icann singaporeI am not going to the ICANN meeting in Singapore in a couple of weeks, but there is going to be a strong domain investment business presence there. Many domain registrars, service providers, gTLD registry operators, and others involved in the domain space will be at the meeting.

I’ve been wanting to attend an ICANN meeting for a while, and Singapore is on my list of destinations I haven’t visited but would like to visit. It’s tough traveling across the world for a business event, especially with a two year old, so I am not making the trip this time.

In the last week or two, I’ve received several emails about social events that will be taking place during the meeting. Since there aren’t the typical domain investor parties at an ICANN meeting, these social events serve as a means of getting together with others in the business. The unfortunate aspect is that they seem like invite-only, must RSVP events, so if you don’t know about them ahead of time, you might be out of luck.

If you are planning on attended this ICANN meeting (March 23-27), you should reach out to some of the companies with whom you do business to see if they’ll be at the conference. Set up a private meeting, and perhaps you can get some business done, make a new contact in case you ever need anything, or at the very least, meet up with people who are in the domain space.

If your company plans to be at the meeting and you are taking appointments or have a private party or event scheduled, feel free to post about it here with details about getting in touch. I won’t be at this ICANN meeting, but I know there are going to be plenty of domain investors who will be there.

  1. I’m going to be there on the 25th. Looking for somebody to have lunch with, can be more than 1 person. Reach out if you will be there and you are interested.

  2. Hi guys.
I´m a domainer from Spain and I have no money to go to the Domainers meeting in Valencia-SPAIN (MAY 2014) Domains sales are dead. I don´t sell a domain name since 2010.

  3. Having lived in Tampines for a few years where I attended college, I know how safe, clean and beautiful the city is, it’s almost like being at Disneyworld, Changi International is awesome, makes the airports in the US look 3rd world… Lot of nice attractions like the Botanical Gardens, I’m almost sure ICANN will be hosting this on Sentosa Island where the new Hotel/Resorts are, they have a cable car that runs to the city or a bridge you can walk across.. Once in the city you want to use the MRT to get around, it’s very efficient as is everything else, You can tour Singapore in a couple days, after that is when you want to visit neighboring Malaysia and other destinations.

Singapore is a awesome Metropolitan city, ICAAN could not have chosen a better destination… The only downside was the flight, 18 hours from the west coast.

  4. @Raider

Are you still in Sing? If so lmk.

And if you are your post probably got blocked for not being in America. I’m living in Bali and all the domain blogs like to block me just for being here.
