Dan.com Listings Migrated to Afternic (Updated)

Following the news that GoDaddy is retiring Dan.com, the company launched a migration page to transfer domain name sale listings from Dan.com to Afternic. I did not have a ton of faith that this migration would be seamless, so I opted to proactively delete all of my active listings on Dan.com and not worry that something would go haywire in the migration process.

The deadline to manually migrate domain names from Dan.com to Afternic has passed, and Dan.com emailed customers who hadn’t previously migrated domain names to notify them that listings have been migrated automatically. I received the email this morning, which I shared below.

Since I did not have any domain names listed for sale at Dan.com, there should have been nothing to migrate. I am going to reach out to my Afternic account manager, Alex (who has been very helpful to me), to ensure no changes were made to my account. Hopefully, he has the ability to detect any changes that have been made as a result of this automated migration.

Important Update: Successful Migration to Afternic.com

Hello Elliot,

Great news! Your Dan.com listings have successfully migrated to your existing Afternic account.

With this move, your domains will now enjoy Afternic’s extensive buyer network. As the leading domain marketplace, Afternic connects your domains with a wide audience, giving you even more opportunities to make sales.

Because you already have an Afternic account with the same email address as your Dan.com aAccount, we’ve migrated all your unique domain listings to your Afternic Aaccount. If a domain was already listed under your current seller account or another Afternic account, it’s been left as is.

You can check your Dan.com account to see which listings made the move and spot any that might need further action.

We also recommend you take a moment to verify or set up your payee details on Afternic.

From now on, you’ll manage your portfolio, account, and listings through Afternic, as changes can no longer be made on Dan.com. If you haven’t done so yet, we suggest heading to the Dan.com Migration Center to download your Dan.com data.

We’re confident you’ll love what Afternic has to offer! If you have any questions or need assistance, we’re here to help.

Welcome aboard, and happy selling!

Thanks,

Dan

Update: I received a second email this morning from Dan.com informing me the first email was apparently sent to me in error. The second email I received is below:

Auto migration process

Hi Elliot,

Today, the auto migration process to Afternic begins, and some customers, including you, received a successful migration email in error.

Rest assured, if your Dan.com portfolio shows zero domains or if you opted out of the migration, nothing will be moved to Afternic, and no changes have been made to any existing Afternic account you have connected.

For those with active Lease to Own (LTO) transactions who haven’t opted out, these transactions will be migrated in the coming months as part of our planned process.

We apologize for this oversight. Our support team is here to assist anyone needing more information.
