In it’s most recent sales report, Sedo mentioned that .CO domain names are hot right now in the aftermarket. Helping to illustrate this fact was the sale of Finance.CO last week for $45,000. It wasn’t the leading sale of the week (DataCenter.com sold for over $350,000), but it was impressive. In all, Sedo closed over $1,000,000 in domain sales last week.

Sedo will be hosting a free webinar this week for domain owners who might benefit from learning how to negotiate and price their domain names to yield better sales results. The webinar will be held online on Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM (EDT).

According to Sedo, this webinar will “highlight the top 5 dos and don’ts of negotiations, pricing tips and tools, and more.”  If you’re actively trying to sell your domain names, this might be something you’d benefit from participating in for the hour. You’ll also receive a free whitepaper discussing how you can boost your sales.

I haven’t participated in a webinar like this before, but I am going to sign up. Hopefully it won’t be a Sedo sales pitch per se, but they seem to close hundreds of sales each week, and many of the names that sell are surprising, so they must be doing something right.

You will need to sign up at least a little bit in advance, which you can do right now via the GoToMeeting.com page.

Although this position likely doesn’t require a background in domain names since a communications or marketing background is more important, I wanted to post a Sedo job listing I saw in case it’s of interest to you or someone you know. Sedo has offices around the world, and I believe this position is in their Cambridge, Massachusetts office, although the location is not listed.

As I mentioned a few days ago, Sedo’s Great Domains held its May auction, which ended this afternoon. DataCenter.com was acquired for $352,500. The bidding for this domain name went on for quite some time after the auction was scheduled to end. The reserve price range was $25,000 – $49,999.

The domain name was placed for sale by Next Navigation Pty Ltd, a domain investment company that owns a very nice portfolio of descriptive domain names.

Based on the final sales price, my guess is that an end user acquired this name. I will post an update in a few days once payment is made and the domain name is transferred, assuming the Whois data is public. Congrats to the seller and Sedo on a nice sale.
