Video: .Club Reduces Pricing on Some of its Premium Inventory

13

Jeff Sass, CMO of the .Club registry, emailed me this morning to let me know the registry has made pricing adjustments to some of its registry-held .Club domain names. The registry shared a video to highlight some of the .Club domain names that had their retail prices reduced. In addition, Jeff shared the following information with me:

.Gondola? SNL Skit Uses “New” Extension

There are hundreds of new gTLD domain name extensions, but .Gondola is certainly not one of them (yet). Chris Sheridan noticed that Saturday Night Live shared a fictitious .Gondola domain name in a recent skit featuring Adam Sandler:

Spotted: Two Totally Different Domain Names

I am always on the lookout for good domain names when I am out and about. Earlier today, I took a drive to Canton, Massachusetts to pick up some beer from a great brewery called Trillium. I ran in their 5k a couple of weeks ago, and I ran past a church that was using a .Church domain name. I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of the church sign then, but I remembered to do it today when I was in the area again.

On my way to take the photo of the .Church sign, I stumbled across a totally different domain name on the back of a truck. Apparently, there is a Del Monte warehouse right near Trillium, and the backs of their trucks proudly display the Fruits.com url (along with FreshDelMonte.com). Fruits.com was created back in 1997.

Here’s a photo of the back of the truck:

.Club Announces Unlimited Name Blocking for TM Holders

The .Club Registry announced a new DPML-like service to help trademark holders prevent domain names from being registered with their trademarks in them. The new service is called the Trademark Sentry Unlimited Name Blocking Service, and it is outlined in a press release that was published this morning. The registry also shared a video explaining how it works:

VK.app UDRP: Don’t Email TM Holders

A UDRP was filed against the VK.app domain name at WIPO. The UDRP was filed by the company that operates a business on the VK.com domain name. A three member panel ruled in favor of the complainant in the UDRP, despite the fact that VK.app appears to me to be generic enough to be defensible.

NY Times Writes About .Amazon

Amazon probably owns one of the largest portfolios of new gTLD domain names. A day doesn’t go by without me reading my DomainTools Registrant Monitor email and seeing at least several new gTLD domain names added to Amazon’s portfolio. Amazon seems to be doing most of its buying for protective reasons than for proactive usage, but they have a lot of new gTLD domain names.
