Google’s 20 Most Valuable Keyword Domain Names

I’ve come across Google in many Whois lookups. The company owns quite a few keyword .com domain names that I would love to buy. Some of these domain names were independently acquired by the company at some point, and others were acquired when they acquired various companies that already owned the domain names.

Using DomainIQ.com, I did some research to find the best keyword and/or generic domain names owned by Google. The domain names I listed below are the most valuable domain names without consideration of the company that may be operating on the domain name. For instance, Google owns Blogger.com, and I considered the domain name on its own merits rather than paying attention to the Blogger platform.

In my opinion, here are Google’s 20 most valuable keyword and generic domain names (in alphebetical order):

How to Search for Developed New gTLD Domains

7

Although I am not really investing in the new gTLD domain names right now, I think it’s interesting to see what is being done with the domain names that are developed and being used by their owners.

Instead of relying on reports of newly launched new gTLD domain names from bloggers and/or domain registries, you can use Google to see what new gTLD domain names are indexed in the search engine. It seems like Google may index some new gTLD domain names that are only being used as a forwarder to another website, but this search is a good way to see what is indexed.

If you want to have a look at some of the indexed new gTLD domain names, visit Google and do a search for “site:.extension.”

Let’s say you want to do a search to see what .Movie domain names are indexed in Google. You would perform a search for “site:.Movie.” Here are some of the domain names I found

Shortly after it was announced that Google would launch its new brand Alphabet on ABC.xyz, there was a run on alphabet related and .xyz domain names. Judging by a recent Whois change, it looks like Google recently acquired abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.com (the full alphabet). As you can see in the screenshot above, the domain name was originally created back in 1999.

Whois records show that Google is

Sahar Shares Additional Thoughts About Alphabet

24

Yesterday morning, I shared an interesting Facebook post written by Sahar Sarid discussing the  decision to use ABC.xyz for Google’s  new Alphabet holding company  with some of his thoughts. This morning, Sahar shared additional insights and thoughts about Alphabet and the decision to choose ABC.xyz for the website.

Sahar gave me permission to share the entire post  that he published on Facebook today. I know that some people do not have Facebook accounts (or they use them for personal things rather than business discussions), so you are welcome to post your thoughts and comments here or or  directly on the Facebook post.

This is a follow-up post in a series of posts examining Google’s new Alphabet name, what it means, what it tells us, how they come across. Agree or disagree? comment below.

With Alphabet, While Google was driven by serious Anti Trust allegations in creating this new structure, from branding perspective, they tried to come across as unconventional, young, edgy, and experimental. I don’t think it works. I think people ultimately will see through it, and I think they whole branding aspect can be described in one word: Fail.

Let me explain.

Sahar Sarid Shares Thoughts on Google’s ABC.xyz

Sahar Sarid is one of the most successful domain investors I know. A member of the Domain Hall of Fame, Sahar is successful to the point that he spends much of his time traveling the world and enjoying life. He has sold millions of dollars worth of domain names, and he maintains a valuable (private) portfolio of domain name assets.

I saw that Sahar published some thoughts about Google’s decision to use ABC.xyz for its new Alphabet holding company branding, and he gave me permission to share his commentary here:

I had the whole night to think of Google’s move last night and here are my conclusions:

Google Launches Alphabet on ABC.xyz

On August 5th, I detected a change with the ABC.xyz  domain name. I sent an email to .XYZ registry CEO Daniel Negari to ask if he could share anything since the domain name had previously been registered to his company, XYZ.com, LLC. The new registrant is DNStination Inc., and I thought they may have acquired the domain name on behalf of a big company. I did not hear back from Daniel.

This afternoon, I was at the gym when I heard a report about Google and a corporate change the company announced today. As I was cooling down, I instinctively did a Whois search for Alphabet.com. The domain name is registered to BMW, although I do not see a website resolving right now.  I added it to my list of monitored domain names to see if Google would acquire it.

After returning from the gym, I was exchanging emails with Frank Schilling.
