Divyank Turakhia is a “Thrillionaire Entrepreneur”

There’s a neat article on Forbes right now about Divyank Turakhia. Divyank and his brother Bhavin turned a $600 loan from their parents into a massive company (Directi) that was sold  for a reported 9 figures back in 2013.

According to the video embedded within the article, Div is now working on his seventh company, Media.net. In addition, Div has a reported net worth of around $450 million. A great deal of Div’s net worth has come from the success of his domain industry businesses, which includes Skenzo, Radix, BigRock, and others. Div is just 33 years old.

The focus of the Forbes article is not only on Divyank’s domain  industry companies, but also  on his aeronautical skills and his enjoyment of flying.

Unfortunately, I am unable to embed the video within this article, but it’s worth checking out when you have a chance.

Job Opening? ICANN CEO to “End His Tenure” in 2016

I read a couple of tweets that mentioned that ICANN President and CEO Fadi Chehadé will be stepping aside next year. A few moments ago, I received an ICANN News Alert confirming this news.

According to the email I received from ICANN, “The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) today announced that President and CEO Fadi Chehadé has informed the Board he will be concluding his tenure in March 2016 to move into a new career in the private sector (outside the Domain Name Industry).”

These are certainly interesting times for ICANN, and I am sure there will be quite a few people who wish to lead ICANN in the future. I am not much of an ICANN watcher or a person who spends much time thinking about Internet governance, but I am sure this news is of importance for those who are active in the ICANN community. ICANN 53 is coming up in about a month in Buenos Aires, and I presume this will be a topic of interest.

In case you don’t receive ICANN News Alerts but want to learn more, the content of the email has been published below:

National Journal Reports RandPaul.com Bought for $100k

Political publication National Journal just reported that “Rand Paul Apparently Paid $100,000 for RandPaul.com.” The publication was referencing Rand Paul’s Federal campaign records. The article went on to state that “Federal campaign records show Paul used his Senate reelection committee to pay $100,980 to Escrow.com, a domain service, on March 27 for what is described as a “domain name.”

I think that this was a wise purchase by Mr. Paul because it’s much easier to advertise  RandPaul.com on campaign material than something longer. Owning this domain name makes more sense than relying on the owner of the domain name to use it for something positive. In addition, owning the domain name

Giuseppe Graziano Launches Domain Brokerage

From June of 2012 until this past March, Giuseppe Graziano worked in a business development role and as a domain broker at Domain Holdings. According to his LinkedIn profile, Giuseppe “successfully negotiated over 7 digits in domain sales.” Giuseppe recently went out on his own, and he just announced the launch of his domain name brokerage, GGRG.com.

GGRG.com plans to focus entirely on “liquid” domain names. This means Giuseppe will only be looking to broker high value short and numeric domain names. Domain names in these categories continue to see higher sale prices, and I understand that Giuseppe has experience in this niche.

Giuseppe shared some information about

Brandon Abbey of Escrow.com Comments on Acquisition

On Sunday evening, it was announced that Escrow.com is going to be acquired by Freelancer.com. There were quite a few reader comments about the proposed acquisition, including some concerns about the proposed acquisition and expectations for after the acquisition is completed.

This afternoon, Escrow.com President and Managing Director Brandon Abbey shared some comments about the acquisition and what lies ahead for the company. I asked Brandon if I could share his comments here, and he gave me permission to publish them:

TLD List: Domain Name Price Comparison Tool

I received an email over the weekend from Tim White announcing the launch of TLD-List.com. I am not familiar with Mr. White or his website, but it looks like TLD-List.com is a domain name price comparison tool.

According to the email I received, TLD-List “is a free listing of all top level domains, including each TLD’s pricing and free features offered by 26 major registrars.” The prices are updated every six hours to adjust for price changes, fluctuations, and special offers. The website touts that there are “930 Top Level Domains” listed in its index. It looks like there are gTLD extensions, new gTLD domain extensions, and ccTLD domain extensions listed.

I can see why something
