Sometimes when I look at X, I feel like I am one of the few people not building something using AI tools. Several years ago, I operated a handful of pet and geo-specific websites on exact match domain names. I primarily used WordPress for the website platform, and I worked with a variety of designers and developers for web development.
A few of the websites I operated did fairly well and several were more along the lines of vanity projects. They all kept me busy and engaged. Today, I only operate this website, Embrace.com, and my corporate website. I don’t have an urge to build anything new at the moment.
When I visit X, I see many people building things. AI tools have made it easier than ever to build something. People are operating websites, building tools, and creating all sorts of things with the help of AI. From domain investment tools like Jamie’s DotWeekly to the Beanstalk Challenge created by Rick Schwartz, domain investors are building online.
I would imagine I am not in the minority here, but I think there’s a pretty sizable group of domain investors who are experimenting and building.
Are you building something online?
With the growth of AI coding and development tools, many domain investors are building websites and tools.

Trying to build a zone file viewer (right now .com only)
https://dotcorner.github.io/zoneviewer/viewer.html
DomDB browser extension that shows data on whatever domain you’re currently visiting:
* every aftermarket that the domain can be purchased from, including pricing
* aftermarket price histories
* domain age, registered TLDs, current registrar, etc.
* sales history
Much of this data is already available on the DomDB website, but I think the convenience of a browser extension is needed for those who shop domains by visiting landers.
I’m returning to some projects from 10 years ago which fell by the wayside because the friction in getting things done back then was still too great. I don’t think current AI entirely eradicates that, but the direction of travel is clear – we are mostly time poor, so if we can get leverage of our time through technology the advent of the 1 person big business may really be on it’s way. Amongst the many very prescient things Rick Schwartz has said over the years, was something about waiting till the technology allows you to do something (he felt it would, I can’t say I’d even asked myself the question, till he made me think about it). Just consider how much it would have cost to build a site like this 25 years ago – likely house money – nowadays a fraction of that.
